In news today that only 4 teams in prem committed to paying a living wage for staff, Liverpool/Everton/West Ham and Chelsea

Anyone any ideas if this was based on last year and if not I’m guessing we are one of the 16

I know legally we only have to pay minimum wage etc, just thought with money that’s in the game and clubs so essential to the local communities it would be something everyone signed up to

Worth noting that West Ham and Chelsea are probably paying the London living wage too. Which is roughly £1.50 an hour more I believe.

Good on them I say.. it’s completely immoral to pay a player on the field Tens if not hundreds of thousands per week and another member of staff a wage which isn’t enough to be able to afford a match ticket..

The catering ought to be brought back in house. Train the staff properly, supervise them properly, pay them the living wage, and let them be in a profit sharing scheme based on the takings. At the same time, they should improve the quality of the food, and sell ale at the ideal temperature.

Absolutely right.......you don't need Raymind Blanc-style levels of service, but nicely kitted out staff, understanding the basics of civilised and decent service, with a clear understanding of what's on the menu. These should be fundamental, especially at United, and the mark-up on food can be excellent so worth considering. Whoever's designated with being head supremo should have a good understanding of local needs and wants. Maybe trial and error to begin with, but if attention to detail is in place then any mistakes should soon be eradicated.
