Not at all. You should support who you like but understand that some things are more acceptable than others. As in life.

threebrownstripes, as LoughboroBlade, metalblade, and raul have said, felix seems to have good reasons for deciding that Chesterfield aren't the team he wishes to support. People change allegiances over all manner of things yet the ground doesn't cave in as a consequence, strange that, don't you think? His post is well reasoned and makes sense, at least to myself. Agree to disagree mate, follow your team and lend them 100% in everything you do. I don't see anything from felix advising you to change your affections, so dedicate yourself to supporting the team that matters to you. UTB

You're funny. I quite liked you with your first post, but you've shown your true colours ( do you see what I did there?) I'm another felix, not for the same reason and Chesterfield weren't my team. Sometimes you think you are in love and then you find your soulmate.

The thing is weak willed individuals like you and him ultimately won't be missed by their first love.

That's the problem with small minded individuals , the can't see what's right and wrong and when other people quiet rightly object to other obnoxious behaviour ,
or are we to accept when people are picked on because of skin colour , or they may be different in some , in there utopian society.
Fair play to Felix , at least he had the bottle to stand up for what's right , I hope if I was in that position I would have the guts to do
the same .
I could never support anybody but United but after an experience like he had can understand why he doesn't go
there anymore.

Feck off ya Irish twat ;)

In truth all I see is a guy that's "seen the light" whatever his reason, I know of life long Wendy fans converted to blades and visa versa, is this wrong, no not in my opinion, everyone has a right to support whom the please.
Support only home town clubs, what utter bollox if that was the case man ure would only get about 12,000 at home games, my son lives in London has done for 10 years, watches London clubs but has never stopped being a blade and proud to say so.
Seems your saying three brown that if a person moves city's and that city becomes home he should switch allegiances ?
People can change wives/husbands because they discover something they really can't live with but not football teams?
Racism or abuse of any type sits well with some small minded bigots not with others, and that's ok doesn't mean everyone has to put up with it, bravo to the guy that stood up and was true to his convictions, even after violence and abuse, there should be a lot more like him.

Agreed North Yorks Blade, luckily I found my soulmate at birth but the lad I travel to games with was a Stevenage fan originally before changing his allegiances. He's now not missed a game in the league for the past six years. Who's to say he's a 'weak willed individual' or 'a spineless loser'. Get a grip, we all support the same team wanting the same thing, three points every week and what's wrong with that??

You come across as a spineless loser and your experience is a million miles away from my own.

Yes, I was just thinking to myself what a brave, dauntless warrior you are for doing the heroic task of supporting a football club. Have you ever considered converting your memoirs into a novel?

You ought to be ashamed of yourself for your description of another football supporter who made a decision to support another team. To read your post it's as if the world order is about to shift, but it's football mate, and believe it or not, it's not the most important thing for some people, even those who profess to enjoy football.

Stop talking as if you're outraged, felix has chosen what, for him, is his team. He seems happy to support the Blades, let's hope he continues to enjoy the experience even if we're woeful. As for yourself, save your energy for your team, it'll serve far more use than worrying about felix.

threebrownstripes,

Personally I think it would have taken a lot of guts to stand up to the abusive fans of the same club you support, and then to make the decision to walk away from the club you've followed with family & friends.

Weak would have been to sit there and do nothing, just accept the abuse and go back week after week and not have the courage to change the situation.

And if he decided to stop following the blades, well then he'd be a fool ;) but that would be his choice, nothing to do with us. Maybe people don't need an allegiance to one team, it's quite possible to watch a number of clubs for the love of the game.

And what if chesterfield do well and start attracting the Liverpool/man utd fans that's around chesterfield? Would you not be happy to have a full ground, as it would be full of spineless fans by your definition?

Well do feel free to wander back to your own gene pool then. The last word Id use to describe Felix from what he has told us is "spineless".
You come across as a spineless loser and your experience is a million miles away from my own. I could never betray my home town so easily - others I suppose my not have the same beans.
Agree with raul
Where have you popped up from tbs ?
Who do you think you speak for ? I k ow plenty of blades from chezzy and sheffields other satelite towns who support both teams
Dont see anything wrong with it myself
Dont think the guy deserves the abuse hes getting from you ,seems like a stand up guy to me

I think the problem with this 'debate' is that it makes perfect sense to ditch any team to become a Blade, wherever you are, whatever your reasons. It doesn't make any sense to go in the other direction, so fans of other clubs would obviously struggle to understand why they would defect.

On a more serious note, my mum grew up in Chesterfield and went to see them as a teenager, and my dad's local teams were East Fife and Hibs growing up. Moving back south of the border he used to go to watch games at Newcastle, and then both Hillsborough and the Lane, often in the away end (occasionally as a Chelsea fan). Eventually they started going to watch United regularly with my uncle (a Chesterfield-born Blade by choice!) and when he stopped going, my folks kept their season tickets. I'm Sheffield born and bred, went to my first match at six and been a Blade my whole life, but without both my parents 'switching allegiance' I may not have been. My dad still follows four teams and loves going to see East Fife when he gets the chance, but my mum is as passionate about the Blades as I am. The three of us have a great time going down the Lane every other week together, however badly we're doing (my sister sadly now lives in Leeds with her Leeds supporting husband!).

It's football, we all love it. Isn't that enough?
