Pre-season

Ridiculous comment. The ideal pre-season starts with low level friendlies (the likes of Matlock, Baslow) and gradually works up the levels as the players reach the start of the season. You don’t tend to play pre-season games against teams in the same division.

There’s little point, unless there is a training camp, in going any further than you need to and spending hours on a coach when you can go up the road.
It’s better to be playing league one and two clubs, who play a similar style and intensity of football, than foreign or Scottish teams.

I would expect (and how I would plan it given free choice) to be something along the lines of Matlock, Alfreton, Halifax, Rotherham, Doncaster, Huddersfield. With maybe a foreign friendly in there somewhere if they go for warm weather training.

It’s all designed around being at peak match fitness when the first game of the season comes around.
Peak fitness you say?

Many players have mentioned this in interviews.

Have they, who?
Haven’t seen any interviews with players where they’ve said pre-season was low intensity. But a low intensity start to pre-season is a more modern approach because, quite;

“Low-intensity pre-season training focuses on rebuilding base aerobic capacity, joint stability, and foundational movement mechanics without overloading the muscles. It typically serves as an active recovery period or the first phase of an off-season program to prevent injury and safely reintroduce athletes to physical stress“

This kind of approach is often used at the start of pre-season now before building up the intensity…

The wilder fanboys won’t like it though because it’s not the old skool way of running players into the ground in the first week back and there’s very little Peroni involved.

A bit like John Harris teams then?

Only took 4 messages for you to stop being a fanny

Also, no he's not, yes it happened, source: family member of the assistant manager 👍 not a secret within the club, hardly breaking news

Sorry to put it this way, but that’s bollocks. If you’re going to be a troll, don’t laugh at your own posts, it’s a sure sign - and if it’s hardly breaking news, why post it again? I think we both know why……

No more time for amateurs, you’re on ignore.

Not last season. You know, the one when we won 92 points.

This season because of the Selles low intensity training and pre-season regime and because our two best players were signed outside of the transfer window (through necessity) without having a pre-season or any matches. At that level it makes a massive difference.
Should see a difference next season.

Chris Morgan was on Comms for a recent game during the losing run and mentioned he had been told or even spoke to players weren't a fan of the more technical based preseason under Selles.

Considering how undercooked we were it's fair to say they had a point.

We were definitely undercooked but a "technical" pre-season doesn't account for the complete lack of fitness in the 41 games after Selles departed.

Considering pre season is THE vital time for building the fitness base it actually does account considering the lack of time during the season to do that.
