Not worked last couple of season
Blowing out there arsenals after an hour

Not last season. You know, the one when we won 92 points.

This season because of the Selles low intensity training and pre-season regime and because our two best players were signed outside of the transfer window (through necessity) without having a pre-season or any matches. At that level it makes a massive difference.
Should see a difference next season.

You ask the Police. You wait for a late season game. Where there is a dedicated fan zone for away fans. Say "for example" Bristol City away in April. The liaison copper is bound to be in there. Trying the nicey nicey. He'll have already been in contact with liaison coppers working with potential opponents. He may even have been in contact with British Embassies.

United cannot agree or announce anything without "police permission". He knows earlier than virtually anyone else. And he doesn't really know he shouldn't say anything.

"Halifax Town definitely. Somewhere near Valencia. And Scotland - oooohhhh where was it again, Motherwell or somewhere like that"

Don't shoot him, he's just the messenger.
We could always organize a pre-season kick about on the beach in benidorm, Blades v Derby ⚽🍺🍺🍺

Personally I don’t see why we can’t be arranging pre-season friendlies abroad 6-12 months in advance. The take up would be higher even if the opposition wasn’t 100% nailed on but say there was announcement that said we would be playing 3 fixtures in Spain for argument sakes in Valencia at their reserve stadium which has a 3,000 capacity and we played Sunday, Tuesday and Friday. It could be easily arranged to have a package deal put in place with hotels and flights along with travel/tickets, make it the first week of the school holidays and a 5pm kick offs. If the club want to pay me I will sort out 2027!
Why would they? You do know that no part of the pre season is for the purpose of giving the fans a jolly? And nor should it be.

When did they bring that in?

Football is not all about points & League position & pound notes. Football is also about identity, community, belonging, believing, connection, interaction, spirit, comradeship, friendship, jolly.

Those are what make organisations football CLUBS, not just football TEAMS.

Pre Season trips help build all those things. Between the players themselves. And between the teams and the fanbase.

The whole Malta links and preseasons were worth it during our sponsorship ties. It’s an opportunity to scout at different locations potentially too. Families are there for generations and income through season ticket and merchandise increases too

Otherwise every preseason should be held exclusively at Shirecliffe starting with high intensity non football work for 6 weeks and then some close doors friendlies but fans might not like that idea either

I totally agree and because we didn’t think there would be a Portugal this pre season we went to Albufeira at the end of April to watch the Blades v Derby match 😉

Benidorm would be a fantastic setting for a pre-season friendly. Unfortunately the stadium is used for concerts and other events in the summer, and the pitch is covered by plastic - often with a stage at one end. There are decent small stadiums in nearby Villajojosa and La Nucia though. But for some reason UK teams don't seem to think it's such a fantastic idea to come.

Valencia's reserve stadium as part of their academy (Antonio Puchades Stadium) is about 1hrs drive from Benidorm and easily connected along the coast from Alicante.

lOur pre-season is mostly designed so Wilders minions can have a few decent local days out on the beers and he can join them because our managers mentality is 90s Sunday league and not modern professional football.

Agreed. Local clubs, local fans, most importantly, local mindset.

Once listened to Dean Saunders on pre season matches.

His opinion was to play a few games you should easily win and one you shouldn't.

In essence a few easy run outs and one test.

Actually makes sense.

I don’t mind the easier games but Christ it would be nice if we picked up some matches against a different set of local-ish clubs. Even something slightly more exotic like Huddersfield, Notts County, Lincoln, etc.

Lincoln more likely to be September than July;)

So Bayern Munich, PSG and Barcelona to warm up before heading to the Northolme for a stern test against Gainsborough Trinity then?

Yep, I drive on that motorway all the time. Lovely drive through the mountains by the Mediterranean Sea. Valencia's reserve stadium is in Paterna, think the women's team play (or train) at Sueca.

I've visited Villarreal and Levante's reserve grounds to watch Benidorm CF in league games. These places aren't much more than football pitches with a stand seating a couple of hundred. If we end up playing a public game I hope we play it somewhere a bit more substantial, but I'd even be happy with the beach.

That great manager, Dean Saunders?

The new Villarreal would be alright 🤣 could offer us to test it for them

Think you got the wrong end of the stick over the kick about, we are over early June for a Derbyshire Blades birthday, should have enough Blades n Derby to field an 11 aside.
We might manage 10 mins as mostly in our 60's😀

How do you know last pre-season training was low intensity? Were you hiding behind a tree filming it?
