Pre-Season starts Monday?

I note that Adkins needed to see the team beaten 4 0 by Gillingham, as he felt Collins had a raw deal from Clough and wanted to try him.
Pre season not enough to see how poor the team was.
it took Adkins till about march to realise that Collins wasn't good enough

the defence that day included Collins, Mceverely and Mcfadzean. Shivers

Think of it as driving an exotic sports car down a long straight road. There are no speed cameras, just a few old jalopies in front of you. Do you ease up to let the jalopies look good, or do you push the accelerator to the floor, let those horsepowers surge, and whizz past as fast as you can, with the engine roaring, the exhaust barking, and a massive grin on your face?

Chris Wilder will be mashing the pedal to the metal. He wants 100 points. So do I.

100 points is now the target, having reached all other targets (and surpassed many more)

Play the strongest side on Monday, but Mk and Chesterfield we can probably play fringe players and still have enough to win both games, like Port Vale

Your question, towit Reed might be better suited to playing in the Championship will be answered in 1 of 2 ways. Wilder selects him ahead of those I've mentioned or he is headhunted by existing Championship clubs who see him as a starter in their campaigns. Both scenarios are less likely than me shagging Jennifer Aniston imo.
I see him starting in League 2.
Time will tell.

Thanks for that, i too would rather shag Miss Aniston than shag R

Just like baking a cake, get the fucking thing baked, then sprinkle a few different bits on towards the end, preferably when we're 4 up!

Which one are you?

1. Play full strength trying to score as many goals as possible to win all 3 games.

2. Play the fringe players (players with less than 15 starts this season) so you can have a proper look at them before the dreaded retained and released list?

Which one are you?

1. Sane.

2. Insane.

It's a good question, but with only 1 answer, and would be the same every time - No 1.

There might have been a case under Adkins last season, but this management team is about winning games of football.

"you won't win anything with kids"...............now where have I heard that before ;)

Tufty is an astute guy. He will learn nothing more about the players that have performed so well for him this season.

It's a definite 2 from me, and rightly so. Decisions on the likes of Jay O, Done, Long, EEL etc. need to be made.

Give us fans a great finish to the season. 100 points is a remarkable achievement. 97 is amazing, 94 is wonderful, 91 is Champions
What about 92, 93, 95, 96 and 98? Are they any good?

Seen him on and off for several seasons and frankly feel he's hit his zenith. Not pacy, physically weak. Yes,can pass a ball but when we have Duffy,Coutts,Fleck,Carruthers as we stand I wouldn't shed a tear if he was released. The suggestion that a player would look better in the league above the one he wasn't deemed good enough to play in is frankly IMO insulting to those that clearly were and did.
When is the last time you watched him?
Would you agree some players need to take a step back to come good? I think you are being harsh on Reed, but to be honest I agreed with you at the start of the season.

I agree that all this clamour to play youth players is a joke. They will be ready when CW thinks there ready. Not when a couple on a forum says so.

I will say it again. Why if a young player is not ready at 19 years old do some people just say he is not good enough?
As with everything in life people develop physically and mentally at different times.
This was EELs first proper season and he is 23 years old.

It's disrespectful to play weakened sides when there's still promotion in the balance for other clubs. It was shit when Man U and Fulham did it to us and they actually had important games coming up. To play a weakened side against Bradford would be very poor form and not in keeping with our new improved image.

There's no question what we'll do, we've got 100 points to play for and we have a very full squad with no real spaces for youngsters to fill.

I would like to see Brooks get on the pitch though, we need to be keeping him and giving him game time in these circumstances would send a very positive message to him and only help our chances of getting him signed up long term.

As for Reed, by all accounts he's been our best player at U23 level this season, and seems to have got stronger and tougher. Selling him would be hasty. We should keep him and send him out on loan, we've not even done that with him yet.

This^^^^^^ The trouble is nowadays, some fans are happy to write players off at 19 (all because you get rare players like Rooney and Rashford who are in the first team at that age). By all accounts Reeds attitude and performances have been really good in the under 23's. Deffo one to keep and hopefully get out on loan next season.

Reed is 19 years old and will be on low wages.
He is certainly not on low wages.

As one of Cloughs bright young things he would have been healthily paid.
An issue that may make resigning him on a new contract an issue what with CWs clear indication of what players are worth.

That said young Reed has been the stand out U23 this season. When he has been missing the midfield has been over run on a few occasions....

Isn't there a cut off on how many appearances you have had to have made to get a Championship medal ?
That might influence his team selection.
Players like Done, Chapman, Wilson, Clarke etc might need to play in the last few games to get medals.

Of course there might not be a cut off point at all for medals or Chris might not have given it a second thought. In which case totally ignore this post. UTB.

I don't think Reed staying or going has any relevance to whether he gets any game time in the last few games, keeping him and loaning him out to get regular football is probably the most likely outcome, but whatever Wilder's decision, giving him a run-out at MK Dons is unlikely to make any difference.

Are there any decisions to make on most of those really?
EEL is a Wolves player who hasn't been great for the second half of the season.
O'Shea has already had plenty of chances to show what he can do, but he's already just backup a division lower than where we'll be.
Long will never be our first choice keeper.
Done is a striker who rarely scores and a disaster defensively, but the manager likes him.

Nothing that any of them could do in the last three games will change their futures. EEL is probably going back to Wolves anyway, the others would be back-up at best, Done and O'Shea both played and scored the other day, but it's unlikely to make any difference to the decision about them staying or going.

Fair points made.

You have made your mind up, has Wilder ??

No way wilder will let pre season start tomorrow. He wants 100 points and so do many blades!!. It'll be a massive achievement after 1 point from the first 4 games!!. This season has been one of the best In 40 years of watching the blades.

I nearly got a hard on reading that !

I think Chapman deserves a start. He's not kicked-off about being on the bench most of the time when most players in his position would have expected to start in League 1. Also, I think he could be a potentially fantastic signing for next season.
