Last time I went to watch Bradford Park Avenue was their very last game in the Football League in 1970, which was my final year at the University of Bradford.

Most of their home games coincided with the Blades playing away, so it was the Bramall Lane one weekend, and Bradford P.A. another.

I always thought they played at Odsall Stadium ,will be a new one for me.

When my son was young it was Arnold Town (84-88) for me when United were away then later in life Maidenhead United (94-04), who by the way have the oldest continually used sports ground in the world as opposed to our longest "professional" claim.

I still look out for the results of both these teams.

I saw a handfull of BPA fans take Barnsleys kop ,or Ponty end as it was known then , mind you , it was only about 2.15 , they did get run later , when the 6 Familys that make up the whole of South Barnsley got their act together .

The season after their demise they played Barnsley away in the 1st round of the FA Cup I went to that, they brought quite a good following as well. Remember the old Yorkshire TV programme showing highlights of a match showing BPA, can't remember the opposition. Nice to see them on the way back

You had me convinced right up to the point you suggested there were as many as 6 families in Barnsley.

Yes, their 2-1 win against Doncaster Rovers in December 1968 was shown on YTV in the next day. I saw BPA play a 4th division match at Chesterfield on Good Friday 1970. Chesterfield won 2-1. I got to know Mick Harrity (who was our youth player in mid 1960s) who was a taxi driver at the time he played for BPA in the NPL in 1972

What happened to Bradford Blade who was on here a lot and is a big BPA fan?

Still goes to games, see him fairly regularly, sometimes in range to say hello, sometimes at a distance. Dunno why he doesn't post anymore.
