Cheers Panchero!

"...“arguably the best city in the country for ale..."

True!

We had one sent off too. Peter Beagrie. Portsmouth defended throughout the 2nd half and we won with an own goal by the late Paul Mariner.
We were wretched when it was 10 against 8. Mariner bailed us out.

Vince Hilaire came on for Pompey at 1-0 and attacked us on his own. I seem to recall him hitting the post and creating other chances for himself.

After Leeds and Burnley both won in midweek, we really need to win this.
Happy that Portsmouth may rest players and I'm looking forward to seeing our new signings.

“Three Pompey Players were sent off at Bramall Lane in season 1986/7 and Pompey lost that match 1-0”

I vaguely remember that as I was about 12 at the time, I wasn’t at the game but I remember it making headlines all across the country.

I was there a couple of years later however when Pompey had two players sent off against us in 1989 … I also seem to remember them getting two players sent off at Oakwell in one of the seasons in between…. Now either that Pompey side was a bunch of thugs or they had a strange reaction to the coal dust in the South Yorkshire air at the time,
Paul Mariner scored an own goal, not great that we needed an own goal to beat eight men!

All very civilised.
I was most disappointed with
"One of my worst Pompey experiences at Bramall Lane. In 1969"
Thought we were going to get a tale of some skinheads beating him up and pinching his corned beef sandwiches.
No, just a 5-0 loss 😤

I enjoyed the 2-1 over Pompey years ago when Alan ball was their manager and Tri Dellas banged in a 25 yarder in the last few minutes. Oh how the little ginger twat whinged saying that would be the highlight of his career or words to that effect, of course Dellas went on to lift the European Championship trophy with the Greece team. Made my day to see Alan Ball whining in that interview after the game.

I’ve always liked Portsmouth. A proper football club, as Wilder would put it. Great fans and I hope they don’t go back down. Any Pompey fans reading this hope you have a good journey up here and back.

We’ve had some good games with them in the past. Let’s hope this is another. But 3 points please Blades!

its all mind games there comments.we fear no one and we will hammer them and get 3 points roy pal..i predict SHEFFIELD UNITED 2 POMPEY 0 ,rock on tommy cannon will score 2 goals..we are blades utb...forza sufc till the end..we will take this league by storm and GO UP..ciao

Thankfully we’ve got a bit more steel in the middle of the park now and can maybe defend 20 yards further up the pitch.

Nice stuff weird one.

I'm expecting the locals to jump on the comment, but I hear it from people from many different places, "best ale city in the country".

Absolute must win given the wins for the top 2 and Sunlan

I thought it was just Kevin Ball that was sent off for elbowing John Gannon? Gannon and Ball clashed again when we played at Sunderland in March 1991 and both got the marching orders.
Was that when duffield scored two identical penalties?

Thanks Roy. I have a feeling this will be similar to Peterborough game under Slav and we'll score 5 or more. Hope it doesn't come back to haunt me.

If we have any ambition of autos these are the games we should be winning and have been winning all season … we will make our usual hardwork if it though 1-0

Roygbiv is up to his usual lazy tricks of making theses quotes up, rather than doing his proper job.

The evidence is plain to see, there is no "I've always preferred Wednesday" comment.
