“We should refuse to take the field and let Sheffield United be awarded a 3-0 win by default. That’s likely to be a better result than we actually get if we play the game.”
…and also this:
“Bramall Lane is a fantastic ground and Sheffield is a great city for an away day. I imagine it’ll be a good day out apart from the bit between 3pm and 5pm. Hats off to everyone who’s travelling.
Sheffield United 0-1 Argyle – a richly undeserved smash-and-grab for the ages.”
Bramall Lane is a fantastic ground for away supporters. 15 minute walk from the train station and on the edge of the city centre with all that it offers. Great ground and sometimes a great atmosphere. No wonder we’re rated so highly by visiting fans.
What my Swansea supporting mate (he used to live in Plymouth) told me this week "Interesting that we’ve been told Rooney is actually not getting a wage at Plymouth. However, if he is to be sacked in the first two seasons Plymouth have to pay a couple of million compo."
Plymouth work mate tells me that there is some kind of shenanigans related to Rooney and sponsorship plus his ability to negotiate loans so he’s safe. Mike Phelan coming in as his assistant was all part of the deal.
Will probably be one of first games I'll miss all season as need to catch up on sleep this wknd. 3 nil blades for me, should be similar to Oxford game. May be even 4. Would like to start focusing on our GD for these winnable home games.
This going to be closer than many think. Plymouth will pack the defence and eventually we get a goal forcing Plymouth to come out and have a go. This will result in a second goal forcing Plymouth to come at usI forecast a 2-0 win for the Blades. But it will be a frustrating time until that first goal goes in.
Message to Plymouth hope you stay up and relegate the pigs from S6
Greetings from the West ( well actually the South east) as I am an exile.
We travel today in hope rather than expectation ( and to be fair not too much of that)
I write the pre and post match previews and reviews on Pasoti called One Game at a Time.....done from a very much Green perspective and tongue in cheek....theres an archive if you want to see how I have treated your S6 friends and rivals.
This is the third season I have done these so it is a OGAAT debut for the Blades, so there is a bit of history and then a deeper but still quite shallow dive into some aspects of your ownership.
One Game at a Time: Difficult Second Season Sheffield Red Stripe (A) December 14th On the plus side United’s nickname is the Blades, one which they acquired from its previous holders when Wednesday decided to become the Owls in homage to their new home at Owlerton. Prior to that the Blades...

Here's hoping Agent Cooper is still under the effects of the serum implanted as he left

Good stuff. Loved this and hope he's also playing today!
"A contemporary of his Paul Woolhouse was chairman until he disappeared before he could be arrested and I believe may still be on the run (although he might be playing as a central midfielder for us)."
One minor correction is that the last cricket was played at The Lane in the 70s with the building of the South Stand (known now as the Tony Currie Stand)...so well before the McCabe era.

Literally only read the first sentence so far in your blog thing and it’s wrong. We didn’t get the nickname blades from them, it was a nickname used to describe all Sheffield teams at that time along with the Cutlers. Th pigs dropped using it and we carried on with it.
Also don't know if you mention it cos I've not read that far yet but Bramall Lane has always our ground, they used to hire it for their big games along with every other local club. It’s not their “old ground” much as they try to tell everyone it was.
