April 1974 after we drew 1-1 to QPR. I was one of the many in the BLUT who didnt want to go home until we found out the final score at Ayresome Park!Strangely, we were talking about this just last Sunday. Some of my friends are younger than me (who isn't?) and they could hardly believe it when I told them about the bloke who used to put the scores up on the pavilion. Can't remember the Ipswich game (I was there, but doubt if they would put the scores up for the game we were watching?), but I remember once the pigs were at Middlesborough and it was 6-0 into the second half. When the 'scorer' bloke re-appeared, a mighty roar went up. It was 8-0, but he didn't have an '8' so picked up a '2' and held it next to the '6' and gestured that we should add the two scores together. Simple times.
I was there at the 7-0 thrashing they refer to, what a great day that was![]()
Before that 5-1 defeat at Palace my dad spotted Tony Mercer sitting near us. I had no idea who he was and my dad asked me to get Tony's autograph so I went over to get it. Tony was pleasant and it was the first time I had met a Blade who is a celebrity I think his uncle was David Mercer who played for us in the 1925 FA Cup finalSo was I. I was also one of maybe 150 Blades at Palace seven days later when we were trounced 5-1. That’s football...

Yes me too - didnt Tony Field score a wonder goal ? and didnt Woody Score 4 ?I was there at the 7-0 thrashing they refer to, what a great day that was![]()
An attempt at peace-making. I think everyone who posts on here disapproves of recent acts of violence from a tiny minority of Blades hangers-on. I think we also all accept that there has been distortion and exaggeration of the violence involved (compare the story of the young child thrown out of the Grenfell Tower and caught by a man below - it never happened).
Can we all accept those 2 points, so that when someone condemns the violence, the replies are not 'But what about the exaggeration?', and when someone condemns the mis-reporting, the reply isn't 'But we must condemn the violence.' There is plenty to discuss around these 2 issues, but too often it becomes a dialogue of the deaf.
2 divisions of Panzer.. mainly Tigers.. classic 88 barrage to start. supported by das Reich??Define storming...
Woody did score 4. I'm sure Silent Blade will be along to confirm, but pretty sure the Tony Field wonder goal came a few years later in a 3-1 win against the Tractors.Yes me too - didnt Tony Field score a wonder goal ? and didnt Woody Score 4 ?

That was an amazing game Badger scored a rare goal from distance and Woody just couldn't stop scoring.Ipswich had a fair amount of the ball and to lose 7-0 was not a fair reflection of the game .I was there at the 7-0 thrashing they refer to, what a great day that was![]()
I quite enjoy everyone thinking we're a right bunch of bastards. It's amusing because we know it's bollocks. Of course there's the odd knobhead, but find me a club that doesn't have 'em?
Yarbles to Ipshit and their donkey fondling beige fans.
Wow. That would have taken a while to compile. Very detailed. Cheers for the link, Paulus.Got to take my hat off for this - has to be the most comprehensive and fair opposition pre-match appraisal I can remember reading. https://www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town...r-in-this-league-–-notes-for-sheffield-united
Hope we give them another reason to dislike us by 5pm tomorrow. UTB
Yes...absolutely a cheating cunt. I remember he got a player sent off by his antics in a play off at their place...and i think it was Kelly in goal and he got badly injured but we had no subs left. I remember it was frantic and being a Spanish speaker i was shouting all sorts of abuse at in e.g. your mother is a whore....and worse. He got really upset...good ! Fucking cheat.Mauricio Tarrico - the Gareth Ainsworth of East Anglia.
Never forgive, never forget.

(Pedantry alert) Should be 'muchOs cojones'. Cojones is definitely not a feminine word. Might have been a good way of insulting Tarrico, mind.Muchas cojones, hombre
Don't go shouting 'Hijo de puta' today if you are anywhere near the directors' box; we wouldn't want to offend our East Anglian guests, would we?Yes...absolutely a cheating cunt.
