Strangely, we were talking about this just last Sunday. Some of my friends are younger than me (who isn't?) and they could hardly believe it when I told them about the bloke who used to put the scores up on the pavilion. Can't remember the Ipswich game (I was there, but doubt if they would put the scores up for the game we were watching?), but I remember once the pigs were at Middlesborough and it was 6-0 into the second half. When the 'scorer' bloke re-appeared, a mighty roar went up. It was 8-0, but he didn't have an '8' so picked up a '2' and held it next to the '6' and gestured that we should add the two scores together. Simple times.
kin ell i remember that

Norwich is nearly 50 miles north of Ipswich (kind of making them the Norwich of the north!).

Based on this new definition of the word "derby", I look forward to our new derby games against Crewe, Leicester, Oldham, Bolton, Manchester United, Scunthorpe, York ....

50 miles apart and 50 years behind.

I trust they will be in awe when their charabancs pull up at the Lane and the marvels of electric light and inside toilets confound them.

" I would urge any Town fans making the journey to be careful, Two or Three times already this season there has been trouble at their games, Norwich fans were attacked as they left the stadium following their win, the Sheffield Utd fans just stormed into the away end as the were leaving resulting in some being hospitalised and then there was the fighting at Boro where kids got injured"

“Leeds, Cardiff and Sheff U top three. Like a top three of most horrible fans”

I could name a further ten to fifteen on the list before I got to us.

This false narrative about us, encouraged by our enemies in the media, is becoming rather tiresome now.
Not really, there was trouble at both of those games which was instigated by some of our own moronic supporters.

The media aren’t encouraging anything, they are reporting on the facts. The club have acknowledged this with their statement too so hopefully it will cease.

Talking of Hooligans...

Should see what them boys get up to at their ground...

atleast we leave the cheesecakes at home

"Thieves who broke into a football stadium and stole giant TVs raided fridges to stage a food fight with frozen cheesecakes.

Police said the break-ins at Ipswich Town Football Club's Portman Road ground took place overnight on Saturday and in the early hours of Wednesday.

During the first raid, the intruders partied on wine and food, the BBC understands.

A club spokesman said they have increased the stadium's security."

I don't think anybody is condoning violence, I reckon old Maidenhead has just got his gas bill, bit over the top fir me, although to be fair me telling Tyler he couldn't finish off the crossword is really over the top and completely wrong, I am sorry and will never get involved in any football related banter again,

Makes sense actually, Saturday night to get the cheesecakes out of the freezer then return on Wednesday to chuck em about. Even down there they realise a frozen cheesecake fight is fraught with danger.

No attempt at the Trophy room ? No there are more cheesecakes.

Norwich fans were attacked as they left the stadium following their win, the Sheffield Utd fans just stormed into the away end as the were leaving resulting in some being hospitalised and then there was the fighting at Boro where kids got injured so we all need to be on our guard, especially if things do go our way. “

Oh it's been fucking chaos mate.

I drop-kicked a blind haemophiliac after the Wolves match, I didn't even want to do it either. I just did it just cos....we're Blades innit?

Then there was Sunderland away. One of our boys went up to this random old woman and told her that her blue-rinse perm looked shit.

Then there was the other week on the train back from Nottingham. Bloke got up and went for a piss, so I finished his crossword puzzle. Absolute scenes.

I also had unconfirmed reports that one of our top boys skullfucked a midget whilst reciting The Lords Prayer backwards after the Barnsley match.

We're Sheff United, we do what we want.

Oy oy oy.

That's you screwed out of any aspiration to appear on Eastenders.

The facts of that matter were that many Norwich fans were equally responsible ,the lad who was injured was the main cause ,and that's not heresay ,I saw it myself.

I was too and you are correct.

From my recollection and I was about 6 to 8 feet from the exit gate - not ONE United hooligan went INTO the gate and up the steps.

A small number of our fans beckoned the Norwich fans to come out of the gate - they would not, and probably rightly so, but our fans did not go looking for the Norwich fans IN the ground - THEY declined to come out and I could see them going back up the steps.

I did not see the Norwich City fan in question start the trouble - me and my nipper arrived a number of seconds after he was decked.

Again from recollection, 3 SUFC stewards tried very hard to keep the peace and did a decent job until more stewards and police arrived after 2 to 3 minutes.

I am defending no one - it is just what I saw.

Norwich of the North... :-D

There was a poll of Ipswich and Norwich fans who their rivals were after each other. Each set of fans voted us. Don't know why. Always foudn that fascinating...

Sad bastards, that’s why.

Maybe, but then again Who was responsible for the trouble at the end of The Coventry away game last season?

Cos if you read the press reports as opposed to having actually seen it you would have come to two very different conclusions.

I believe less than 10% anything the press says about sufc and have done ever since the Tevez debacle.

I have an Ipswich mate who broke his finger in a frozen cheesecake fight.

Luckily he had 17 others!

I can't believe how many of our fans think that OUR knobs attacking visiting supporters at The Lane is of no consequence, or even worse a matter of amusement.

It doesn't matter what anyone else does, or what goes on elsewhere, IT'S AN ABSOLUTE DISGRACE and it's about time that our keyboard knobs grew up and acknowledge that fact !!!
Those fans are a disgrace and need banning. However, to put it into perspective, so far, the police have arrested or appealed for information on a handful of Blades.

Saying that Blades stormed the away end, as the Ipswich fan suggested is a little over the top. I’m not sure it was more than 4-5 idiots doing that.

No excuses for such idiocy at Boro or v Norwich, but lets keep it in perspective. Isolated incidents which have made big news

An attempt at peace-making. I think everyone who posts on here disapproves of recent acts of violence from a tiny minority of Blades hangers-on. I think we also all accept that there has been distortion and exaggeration of the violence involved (compare the story of the young child thrown out of the Grenfell Tower and caught by a man below - it never happened).
Can we all accept those 2 points, so that when someone condemns the violence, the replies are not 'But what about the exaggeration?', and when someone condemns the mis-reporting, the reply isn't 'But we must condemn the violence.' There is plenty to discuss around these 2 issues, but too often it becomes a dialogue of the deaf.

Could just stop being dickheads.

Storming the away end at a home game is pretty embarrassivng to be fair.
If it was young uns storming the away I could understand it.
But I saw the Norwich incident live and the age range was 50-65 that is embarrassing.
