Is the Alan Woodward they refer to the same one whose leg their bunch of thugs tried to break on several occasions in one of the most brutal performances I've ever seen ?

That occasion , coupled with trips to Boothferry Park in the 70's has left me with a very bitter dislike for both club and supporters . I would tell them to go fuck themselves but it is apparent that they are already particularly adept in that respect .
Yes it is, and we went up that season. Last time I took a female to The Lane, realise she had jinxed the game as it was the first home loss of the season. Over 40000 at that game.

I genuinely don’t know why they hate us so much. When we play Hull there’s no hatred or excitement. It’s never been a Yorkshire derby neither.

This game will live in my memory forever. I genuinely thought we were going to blow promotion and then Unsworth happened and we never looked back.

I was working at Tesco King's Cross that afternoon, and in a world pre-smartphones I used to rely on Wapping Blade texting me. When his "Unnnnnzzzzzyyyyy!" text came through I was filling the produce section. A stack of green trays got a proper kicking in celebration, after which I quietly said to my boss I was going to have to nip outside for some fresh air, which I did in a calm and relaxed manner before then celebrating like a nutter on Caledonian Road.

Hull's hatred of us is like someone having driven into the space you're about to park in at Morrisons, but instead of just honking at them and gesticulating before driving off, you leave your family and follow them home and live in a bin opposite their house for 40 years so you can keep an eye on them and throw the dog tods you've collected on your regular sorties to the park at their front, except they have a dog so never notice.

Just let it go.

Cheers Roy.

To me this sums up Hull.

“Whenever we face Sheff Utd we should want to beat them even if it means L**ds go up. It's Sheff Utd ffs, we only hate Sheff United. Nearest thing to proper football rivalry we've had in our history and we do have history with them. But we've also had revenge over them. Imagine in the 80's if someone had told you one day they'll rebuild Wembley to be twice the size and move the FA Cup semi finals there and City are destined to draw the Blades in a Semi and put 5 past them and afterwards sign their young defender, who would go on to be an England World Cup hero.”

Just nuke that town.
Already been done I think. second best option was Adkins going there so its some consolation ,they suit each other perfectly.
The hatred of Colin Morris is due to him attending the Burnley Wolves match when we went up I reckon. He didn't shy away outside and was stood with us for a while.

Which part of the kip large boy, there's respectable fellas where I am.
Gangway C - seats 60 odd. Heard some real obnoxious racism up there at the Bristol game, and on Friday i could have ended up in a police incident room from absolutely nowhere because of some complete dick. It's a good job i decided to be the bigger person and not rise to the provocation.

A few rare old thrashings from us and a particularly nasty mid-week battle many years ago have left scars on them maybe. Jealousy is probably more relevant now though. The Adkins touch is a particularly pernicious one too of course that we are well aware of, and we have Wilder to thank for erasing some very painful memories that might otherwise have blighted us for decades.

Maybe it goes deeper than this though.

Have you ever sailed on " "The Pride of Hull" ? To understand the difference in quality of experience, you need also to have sailed on "The Pride of Rotterdam". Now I'm not suggesting Hull is entirely to blame, as P&O must take some responsibility, but it strikes me that "The Pride of Hull" is a good example of an "Oxymoron". Clearly, several morons contributed to "Roy's Views from" that's for sure!
Yes done both ................. Very strange how two identical ships can be so different, had the same on "the Pride of York" and "Pride of Brugge" the same ships ex Norsun and Norland ex Falklands veterans but felt totally different, they do say a ship is made by the crew.

Just for parity I hate fkg Hull as much as they hate us , had many an adventure over there in the land that time forgot . Anyone over 45 will understand the rivalry from way back & the many trips to Boothferry Pk brick yard .
I hope they read this as my finest our was after watching them along with another 3000 Blades trip over one night at Burnley & flagging off all their passing coaches from outside the boozer with having several celebratory pints.
Love the billy bollicks comments about us .. the phrase pot kettle black springs to mind .. so Happy Easter and fuck off back to your dockside squat you scruffy sea gypsies
The reason they hate Colin Morris, he was sat in the stand at Turf Moor the day we won promotion, Burnley hung on to LOSE 2-0 to Hull, Hull needed 3-0 to go up! Morris said in an interview later that the last 5 minutes was agony and that he never wants to go through anything like that again!

I doubt there are many footballers who committed fewer fouls per season than Woodward. A very strange hate figure.
I remember one foul by Woody and it was funny. Near the end of our home 1-1 draw against Fulham (Marsh, Moore and Best were playing for them) in October 1976, he chased after a loose ball in the penalty box but keeper Peter Mellor was quick to pick the ball up and got sarcastic at Woody who looked pissed off with his antics. As Mellor was about to boot the ball upfield, Woody chopped his legs down. Think the ref booked Woody.

March 1971, the night I thought we had blown our chances of promotion

The teams for that night were; John Hope, Len Badger, Ted Hemsley, David Powell, Eddie Colquhoun, Trevor Hockey, Alan Woodward, David Ford, Bill Dearden, TC, Gil Reece, sub : Geoff Salmons.
Hull: Ian McKechnie, Bill Baxter, Roger DeVries, Billy Wilkinson, Terry Neill (player-manager), Chris Simpkin, Malcolm Lord, Ken Knighton (later to play for Wendy), Chris Chilton, Ken Wagstaff, Ian Butler.

Early in the game, Gil Reece gave us the lead beating Ian McKechnie to a bouncing ball to poke it into the net at the Kop End. Hull (especially Bill Baxter- nasty ex-Ipswich player who had a fight with Bobby Robson in the manager's office after being dropped from a 1st team game-, Terry Neill, Chris Simpkin and Ken Knighton) were playing dirty and we relitiated back. After about 30 minutes of the game, the ref blew his whistle and called all players to the centre circle to ask them to "cut out the rough stuff" but Hull took no notice of the ref's warning and carried on playing dirty. In the 2nd half Chris Simpkin equalised with a powerful shot. Near the end, Ken Wagstaff (always scored against us) got the winner

To add to this..... Hull might have won the battle but we won the war by getting more points than Hull did for the rest of the season and we got promoted. The attendance that night was over 40K

I suggest you report this especially any racist comments.

Morris may have had grit, determination, and whatever else you'd hope to find in a good player, but dirty??????
Morris was the reason I parted with my money, in the hope that I'd see him send a defender this way and that, wonderful skills and a big reason Edwards scored so many goals..........if only we had a player quite as good now, for those too young to have been there, just take my word how sensational Morris was.

A fine old style winger but alas, not a player that was suited to playing Wimbledon on a wet and windy night.

We were awful at Hull last season, but we were not helped by the cunts blowing their whistles when we had the ball and throwing tennis balls at our players.

Now they've been a city of culture, maybe we're too plebian for them? If they're supporters aren't all wearing smoking jackets and talking like Oscar Wilde, I'm going to be very disappointed....

disgraceful comments about Woody.. i don’t think he ever got booked
they think they have this rivalry with us, like Leeds do with the Mancs but they’re not even on our radar
