As always, if you watch the SUFC ones on the club website, you'll need to log in. I'll upload the YouTube ones as and when the club post them.

If you find something before me, please add it to the thread.

Are the big questions going to be asked....."Chris, what's the prognosis for Anel, Vini, Femi, Tyrese?". "Scott, did you get a big voucher from NEXT for Christmas, because you look like you're wearing one of everything?"

For those that don't watch the vids, here's what Scott Parker had to say, from the Burnley club site...

Clarets boss looks ahead to Boxing Day trip to Bramall Lane
Head Coach Scott Parker insists his team are in a 'very good place' ahead of the Boxing Day trip to Sheffield United and says his side head to Yorkshire with confidence and determination.

The Clarets travel to league leaders Sheffield United on Thursday afternoon and whilst he says he's aware of the test the team come up against, they are looking forward to the clash at Bramall Lane.

Speaking to the media on Monday, Parker said: "First of all, I'm really pleased with where we are. It's halfway through the season and we're heading in the right direction.

"It's flown by to be honest, but we're in a really good place and I'm extremely pleased with where we are right now. The team have given me absolutely everything we have asked for and that's the reason we're in the position we are right now."

On the Boxing Day meeting with the Blades itself, Parker added: "We're now prepping the team for what is a huge fixture for both teams on Boxing Day, but we're going there with a lot of confidence and determination.

"Chris (Wilder) and his team will be in a similar place, they will be looking forward to it I'm sure, but whatever the result is, I'm delighted with where we currently are and the progress we are making."

The Burnley boss has given himself a selection headache and a 'tough choice' ahead of the trip to Sheffield, with the likes of Josh Brownhill, Josh Cullen, Hannibal and Josh Laurent all competing for a space in the midfield.

Parker gave his thoughts on the midfield quartet: “It’s been a certain predicament for me, because it’s four very good players who are searching to play in their best positions, but there’s only three positions to go for, so it is a tough choice.

“I thought Hannibal did exceptionally well at the weekend. We decided to play him in a different position and he brought real energy and discipline to his performance.

“I was really pleased with the dynamic of how that looked at the weekend. It really gave us a platform in there with some technical players to give us the control we needed.”

The Clarets are likely to have everyone available at Bramall Lane that were in the squad last weekend against Watford and Parker also provided an update on striker Lyle Foster.

"We had recovery today, it was quite a light session, just checking over everyone, but I don't think anyone will be coming out the squad that were available last weekend.

"Jeremy (Sarmiento) is moving in the right direction and Connor (Roberts) will be fine, it was just a knock for him, but he's ok.

"Lyle (Foster) is not too far off now, he's been on the grass for a while. We're looking at a few weeks, it's just about making sure it's right and making sure we don't set him back."

Am I the only one who thought Parker seemed just a touch cocky on this interview? I've always felt he needs to just lighten up a little too.

He's someone I stood up for in the summer because some were saying he's not a good manager and he's done well at Burnley but he's had a decent team too to work with too.

Wilder’s live at 9

Will type up some notes later when I get to re-listen to it, as I'm not the fastest typist, but for now some headlines:

  • Anel and Vini are back for selection for boxing day”
  • Both owners coming to the Boxing Day game and he will speak to them then and the day after at the training ground, where they will properly meet the players and staff
  • Recruitment team are presenting to the new owners on 27th December
  • Wilder again saying targeting “a couple of [proven, been around the block] senior players in”, to add to the youth. "I’m looking for people who have been through the process in the second half of the season, when it’s game on"
  • Wilder wants a good positive welcome for Egan, as "a player who gave everything for this football club
  • He did attempt to temper expectations about the new owners. He said “I don’t think it’ll be a cheque book scenario where we go from 0 to 100 miles an hour in 6 months. It’ll be evolution more than revolution”

Hopefully the new ownership sort that the press conferences are actually accessible in full on YouTube. I’ve got a login etc, but it’s a complete pain in the arse.
I expect it's an agreement with the journalists/media organisations, to give them the opportunity to report things that aren't in the YouTube clips and also to have a head start on the non-live video content, so they can get their customer engagements

Full press conference on club website. You'll need to log in:

What did we learn about player absences/concerns:

  • Vini Souza – “Available for selection for Boxing Day”
  • Anel Ahmedhodžić – “Available for selection for Boxing Day”
  • Tyrese Campbell – No Update (nothing asked)
  • Femi Seriki – No Update (nothing asked)
  • Jamie Shackleton (missing from Cardiff squad due to illness) – No Update (nothing asked)
  • Jack Robinson (subbed at Cardiff due to illness) – No Update (nothing asked)

On the takeover, “Clarity was something we were all after. I didn’t involve myself in the process but was kept in the loop by Stephen (Bettis). We keep going and concentrate on winning games of football.”

When asked about the takeover process etc, Chris said he has only had dialogue with the new owners through Bettis, though he met them at the derby. Both owners are coming to the Boxing Day game and he will speak to them then. They are also heading to the training ground on Dec 27th, where they will meet the players and staff properly.

Wilder thanked the Prince, for the opportunities he’s given Chris and what he’s done for the club.

Talking about the new ownership, Wilder said, “I don’t think it’ll be a cheque-book scenario where we go from 0 miles an hour to 100 miles an hour in 6 months. It’ll be evolution more than revolution”

However, “we understand what the premier league is about and the finances you need to commit to it”

Rob said, “you could be a big asset to [the new owners] because you have the experience of getting the club into the premier league in the past and understand what Sheffield United’s about?”, to which Chris responded, “I’m not being disrespectful but they won’t have the knowledge of the Championship and the Premier League. They will have an [understanding of Sheffield] as one of the chairman is from a similar area [to Sheffield – Cleveland, Ohio], which has a lot of cultural ties to this city.”

“I’d love the owners to lean on me. I’d love to stay here for a long time. Anything I can do to help the football club, I am here, and will serve the owners and the football club to the best of my ability.”

I know what makes the club tick. I know what it looks like when it’s good, and in the best periods this football club has had, how it all comes together.

The build “is in it’s infancy”. We have to be ambitious. “We have to have a successful January and take it forward from there.”

Any good news on the injury front?

“Yes, Anel and Vini are back for boxing day. Both trained yesterday and they’ll be available for selection”

On Burnley, he’s “looking for that aggressive front-foot approach from our players and fans as well. We are in good nick and so are Burnley and it all sets it up for a big game”

Talking about the pride in the home record, he talked about how important it is for everyone on the pitch to keep winning games and keeping clean sheets, and the need for those big moments to be taken at each end of the field, “but it’s going to be severely tested on Boxing Day”.

Moving on to talk a bit about the JTW

The question from Rob was about Louie Barry (Villa lad who was on loan to League One Stockport but has been brought back to likely be sent out on loan to the Championship) being available and what the process is for engaging with getting a player like that and whether we have to wait till Jan. Wilder never mentioned that player in his reply, but talked about the process. All normal stuff we’ve heard before, though he said the recruitment team are presenting to the new owners on 27th December. We have a shortlist ready to go, though “you don’t always get your first choices”, but we have depth in that list, with second choices etc.

Wilder also said we aren’t only looking to January to improve things, we are “looking at things on the training pitch too”.

He once again mentioned bringing “a couple of [proven, been around the block] experienced players in”, to add to the youth, again perhaps hinting he isn’t going after any of these rumoured unproven (at this level, with this pressure) young players?

“Delighted with what we’ve done on the pitch and off the pitch and we’re in good shape.”

He talked about presentations being prepared ready to send out to parent clubs, re potential loans. Youth was mentioned in the question but I couldn’t read into the answer that we are targeting any youth in particular.

He said it’s a drawn-out process to get people in, so doesn’t expect it all done and dusted at the very start of January, and indeed things can change through the month, also noting that “The chemistry and personality of the group is superb. The supporters like it and they can sense it”, hinting that he doesn’t want to disrupt that. “We will continue to identify [new targets] and pursue”

Talking about outside players seeing what’s going on, the atmosphere here, the togetherness, the success, the culture, he feels that it will have an impact on attracting players. He doesn’t want “any rogues”, so character is important, I think hinting at not wanting prima donnas.

Clarifying that just because he wants experience, doesn’t mean they have to be mid-late thirties. It’s experience, not age, saying “I’m looking for people who have been through the process in the second half of the season, when it’s game on”. He then said the word “pressure” about 10 times, emphasising that they’re going to get it in training, from coaches, for teammates and of course out on the game day pitch and they need to be able to handle that and have already handled that before coming here.

Talking on the owners, he said lots of generic stuff, understandably, and also that, “every part of the football club needs to be looked after, the academy, the women’s team, the commercial aspect, the people that work in the ticket office, the supporters. I’m sure [the owners] understand this and understand their relationship with the supporters [is critical].

Wilder wants “an absolutely outstanding” welcome for John Egan, as "a player who gave everything for this football club”

Finally, he wished all supporters a Happy Christmas and mentioned the pain we had to ensure through the first part of the year and thanked us all for the support, hoping to give us “a present” on Boxing Day

And here's John Egan...

Thanks Cappy,

the above was very evident the last match lots of pats on the back from players when we defended well or good tackles. Good communication as said the chemistry in this team is really good.

The Utube ones always seem to be cut short, or is it that the pressers short these days ?

They are just clips from the full press conference, and usually only bits where a BBC Radio Sheffield interviewer is asking the questions. The full press conferences with all interviewers are only on the club site

Thanks for that, I always appreciate People who take time to post stuff, you, Roy, DB, and Phil who covers the 18s and stuff, and anybody I've forgotten, living in a different country it's great to keep up with with what's going on at BDBL.
Thanks again and a Happy Christmas to all
and let's hope for a really great 2025 when hit the Premier league again.

I think he always comes across as cocky. Probably, because he is cocky. I remember talking to fulham fans on the way back from the last home game 2 seasons back when we beat them (they were champions already) and they said he was a complete prick. His departure at Bournemouth kind of proved the point too. Similar, to when he played he will never be true top level as a manager. He can get teams promoted with big money at his disposal but will always struggle thereafter in the PL. He hasn't got the Wilder 'x' factor imo.

Wilder again saying targeting “a couple of [proven, been around the block] senior players in”, to add to the youth. "I’m looking for people who have been through the process in the second half of the season, when it’s game on"
That's the most Ashley Barnes-coded sentence I've ever heard
