Weve based ourselves at The Albion these days. Think we were in there for probs 20 of last seasons games.Looking for recommendations of where we can go on the regular for a pint before games. Ideally will need:
1. Decent range of beer
2. Decent food
3. Have the early match on telly
4. Not too rammed
Any suggestions?
Ever bump into The Babyshambles ?Weve based ourselves at The Albion these days. Think we were in there for probs 20 of last seasons games.
Range of local beers, decent price. Massive beer garden (heated for winter).
No, but if you ask nicely you could have Gin in a TeacupEver bump into The Babyshambles ?![]()
My mates all drink beer and love it but as a lager drinker (insert wanker quip here) I've got to say Stancil lager is probably the worst drink I've ever had in a pub. I'm a Lager man but I'm OK with the Stancil Lager. It's the Stancil Pilsner that is awful for meMy mates all drink beer and love it but as a lager drinker (insert wanker quip here) I've got to say Stancil lager is probably the worst drink I've ever had in a pub. Forced my hand to drink cider.

Went in too and wasn't impressed with the drinks selection. No craft beer, or real ale on. Plumped for a Birra Morretti, which I do like, but it didn't seem to have been kept right to me as it tasted a bit funny. My mate was also served a Moretti in a Guinness glass, resulting in a 'someone having pissed in a pint glass' effect. We went in the new "indie bar" which used to be the dev cat, there was a discount for season ticket holders last Saturday and free dripping cakes on the bar which were well received by everybody in there, think the discount was 10% per round but don't quote me, and it may have just been for the first home game only..
Plenty of (good) bar staff, no waiting, I think we've added this one to the itinerary for home games as everybody loved it.
The bar was well stocked and had pretty much everything you'd want drinks wise...
I thought same pre match but met some friends after and although busy wasn't so chaotic as pre match, assume new pub getting used to volume of people coming in. Will give them another chance especially as sky was being installed this week, if not it's fine for after match and assume hand pull will be coming.Went in too and wasn't impressed with the drinks selection. Won't be going back unfortunately, as there's far better options available IMO.
Morretti just can't hold its head and often very pipey tasting ,worst of the British brewed foreign brandsWent in too and wasn't impressed with the drinks selection. No craft beer, or real ale on. Beer Engine has decent beer, can't remember if they sell food on a Saturday lunch time, or not. Decent outside area.
Dont forget the free highs, from everyone smoking weed in the car park and beer garden! The Sheaf, packet of Cheese and Onions crisps and a pint, what more do you want?
