Looking for recommendations of where we can go on the regular for a pint before games. Ideally will need:

1. Decent range of beer
2. Decent food
3. Have the early match on telly
4. Not too rammed

Any suggestions?

Weve based ourselves at The Albion these days. Think we were in there for probs 20 of last seasons games.

Range of local beers, decent price. Massive beer garden (heated for winter).

My mates all drink beer and love it but as a lager drinker (insert wanker quip here) I've got to say Stancil lager is probably the worst drink I've ever had in a pub. Forced my hand to drink cider.

Prematch town pub crawl…….you’ll find all the above but not necessarily in the same pub.

Extra Time Sports Bar in what was, Spearmint Rhino, isn't too bad (and I don't usually like Sports Bars). The food is decent and you can get a seat if you get there before 1.

I'm a Lager man but I'm OK with the Stancil Lager. It's the Stancil Pilsner that is awful for me 🤮.

Saying that, when they have Barnsley Bitter on, I usually drink that. It's actually quite nice.

Town, Eccy road and Abbeydale road.

Town is the most common route, pub crawl. Starting in Bessemer then any pubs after from Head of Steam, Genting, Roebuck, Fannies and any of them new little bars/cafes on way. Used do graduate until its now an 'away pub'.

Eccy Road is rare but Champs and Sport's shack are decent enough.

Abbeydale Road has loads of micro pubs and new bars on the main road, some drinks very expensive compared to others but there's real ales and its easy to get served.

Speaking of Abbeydale, The Teller has re-opened and has Sky Sports. Though I've not been in since it re-opened. They do food too.

Would probably mean getting the bus, or a taxi to the match though, as it's probably a bit too far to walk after a few pints (although plenty of pits stops on route if you leave earlier).

Another vote for The Albion here 👍

Used to be The Clubhouse for me and that's still a decent option (especially for beer selection), but since bringing in the outdoor seating area The Albion has trumped it massively. Stancill's Amazona is a tremendous pint (although too many will send you a bit loopy) and they do great pizzas on the terrace n'all. They also let you bring your own grub in from elsewhere if you wish.

South Stand or Upper Corner

We went in the new "indie bar" which used to be the dev cat, there was a discount for season ticket holders last Saturday and free dripping cakes on the bar which were well received by everybody in there, think the discount was 10% per round but don't quote me, and it may have just been for the first home game only..

Plenty of (good) bar staff, no waiting, I think we've added this one to the itinerary for home games as everybody loved it.

The bar was well stocked and had pretty much everything you'd want drinks wise...

Firepit is decent for food, multiple TV's and a big screen.

Cavendish isn''t bad.

Spoons/eccy road if not bothered about snap

Went in too and wasn't impressed with the drinks selection. No craft beer, or real ale on. Plumped for a Birra Morretti, which I do like, but it didn't seem to have been kept right to me as it tasted a bit funny. My mate was also served a Moretti in a Guinness glass, resulting in a 'someone having pissed in a pint glass' effect.

Won't be going back unfortunately, as there's far better options available IMO.

Albion for me.

It's shite inside due to being small and having a daft layout, but outside is as fine as any establishment to be found in Sheffield.

I thought same pre match but met some friends after and although busy wasn't so chaotic as pre match, assume new pub getting used to volume of people coming in. Will give them another chance especially as sky was being installed this week, if not it's fine for after match and assume hand pull will be coming.

Beer Engine has decent beer, can't remember if they sell food on a Saturday lunch time, or not. Decent outside area.

Abbeydale Road, start at Broadfield,Two Thirds, Barrow Boy, Abbeydale tap and snap, Dead Donkey, Yard Arm, Bear to name a few, no issue getting to the bar for drinks, food served, no TV entertainment though…you’d be surprised it doesn’t take that long to work your way to BDTBL

Went to the Dark Horse at Banner Cross for a burger (very nice) then Jabbarwocky for a pint (check the blackboard first as I ordered without doing so and obviously chose the most expensive pint at £6.90 odd) on Saturday. No TVs but wasn't too busy and makes a change from the usual rammed Carling pubs in the immediate vicinity of BL.

Morretti just can't hold its head and often very pipey tasting ,worst of the British brewed foreign brands

Some cans round back of clubhouse because their staff are fuckin shit. Albion has been the go-to last 6 months post-match. I'm not a real ale fan so not bothered by that stuff.

Pre-Match extra time bar. Get in 1230 and get a booth. Bucket of bottles for £12 I think.

They do, although they've got someone new in doing the food since last season

We started going to Triple Point Brewery towards the end of last season.

Nice little gaff and a decent outdoor area if you can get a table. Their food doesn’t look bad either.

It’s a bit out the way from anywhere else but that’s what I like about it. The Forest game for example, I couldn’t be arsed sharing the walk from town to the Lane and back with their lot. Good spot to go for a pint straight after full-time too.
