IFFF we go up we’d need to buy a proper goal scorer e.g. like Mitrovic has been doing for Fulham.

Billy has been fantastic for us over the years but he’s not a goal scorer anymore and I’d like to think that McBurnie could take that role but I don’t think he’s good enough for the premier league

In terms of Ndiaye he’s more of the creator in the front 2 and is a great second striker so if we can get that “main striker” spot sorted then we would be sorted.

But the question is… who would you buy? Someone from the championship or a striker already in the Prem? Suggestions please I’m intrigued

Without doubt the coventry striker…..best I’ve seen on and off the ball

Why can't people post this kind of **** when /if we are mathematically promoted. It's as stupid as posting who would we sell if we get relegated. It's January. Absolutely ANYTHING can and may well happen between now and May. I just want to get to the end of the window intact. Then think about the next game.

The Footballing Gods have noted this thread for their next meeting in May.

In terms of a serious answer we’re not going to be able to afford a Mitrovic type player from another English club unless our new owners have mega bucks. McBurnie and Brewster both cost upwards of £20m and neither had PL experience on their CVs, so a striker that has scored up there in today’s market will cost more than that unless you look at someone at the end of their career.

Realistically the value seems to be in picking players from the continent who aren’t as well known here so have less inflated fees (Anel a good example albeit a defender) which is hopefully something we are already looking at.

100% need a proven goal scorer.
McBurnie and Brewster were good (proven for 1 or 2 seasons) goalscorers at Championship level
I seem to remember at the time, other strikers available outside the top flight were Bowen at Hull and Toney at Peterborough.
Those 2 haven't turned out too bad, so it does show that lower league players can make the step up.

If we want a PL proven scorer then it's probably a minimum £50 million transfer and 150K a week salary.
So think that realistically we have no choice but to go for players outside the PL with huge talent.

Of course the best value for money option is to probably go overseas for players with great track records.
However overseas players can be a risk too.

There are loads abroad. We need to be thinking carefully about each of them now, and we surely will be. It would be pretty negligent not to prepare

We need to aim for a real all rounder to go alongside Ndiaye

Absolutely would not write McB off in his new form and condition, but we should look for someone more proven, and athletic

A new signing, McB and Jebbison would be a pleasing strikeforce, with Brewster to add to the mix for 4 games a season

We have no idea who our owners, what our budget is and if we can even get promoted yet so I'll leave it to the scouts but I have no major issue with championship players. A fair amount of the England squad made their name in the championship 🤷‍♂️

Wouldn't mind picking up a Surridge / Stewart / Riis type to make sure we have something decent up there if relegated

But this is all premature hopeful stuff etc etc

Right now we seem OK thanks to Jebbisons improvement. Would just like a CM. I see O'Brien wasn't in Forest's squad

In terms of a CM, there’s this player for QPR dark skin tone midfielder I forgot his name but he’s absolutely fantastic👍

Chair or Willock? Good players

In terms of player type though Sam Field would be the CM of theirs most suited for us currently. Left footed CM who can defend and pass well

We may pick up the odd player from England but we need to look to Europe and South American, Asia. Brighton have done this perfectly and picked up some great players and is something we need to replicate. You will only last so long in the premier league by setting your sights on Sunderland or championship players.

4 modest ones Inincluded in a post the other day would not be unreasonable given the absence of fee:

Pukki
Morelos
Stewart
Pérez

I’m ruling out Dembélé and Bergeron-Diaz as I think they might go to more established clubs or overseas but if they were interested then of course you’d consider.

We have plenty of young players there so don’t think we need to be so snobbish on age. Ember Valencia of Fenerbahce who played for West Ham and Everton is scoring a goal per game in Turkey, but he’s 33.

I think midfield needs the most help.

There is nothing wrong with planning ahead, in fact I would be more concerned if the club wasn't doing that. The tooth fairy isn't going to choose not to show up if you look beyond the next game.

They probably need a plan to pay outstanding fees so we can register players before they think about who we can buy next season.

Agreed
