Apologies if this has been asked on another thread (it's difficult to read them all at the moment), but have we ever hit the woodwork 4 times in one game; and even worse, hit the woodwork 4 times and lost a game? Not an easy question to answer. I was hoping that against Bristol City we would show that we can match any team in this league, and we did. Injuries, suspensions, etc., are making things difficult, but especially in the first 15 minutes of the second half, they could not cope with our attacking. By that point, we had scored one and hit the woodwork 4 times, and if we play anything like that again, we will surely be 3-1 or 4-1 up. I can't see anything Duffy or Sharp could have done differently to make sure those efforts went in. So, further to my original question, can we assume that more of the same level of play will begin to produce positive results and last night was a freak occurrence?
To try to lighten the mood, I seem to remember that the title of the thread was in a Heap cartoon on a Saturday evening, with the ball bouncing off the post and a bemused Blade behind the goal groaning 'Post has hit the Pace again'. Can't remember which match, though.

I don't ever recall us [or any other team for that matter] hitting the woodwork 4 times and losing. Absolute bonky madness really.

The positive I suppse is that we continue to create chances, as hard as last night is to take.

I've named it "The Battle of the bar".

Lots of positives to take away from last night.

Baldock coming back into the side (and playing 90 minutes) gives us some much needed balance back in the side. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that we played much better having 2 proper wing backs in the side.

Bashambaur back into the back 3 gives us a better combatative presence. As much as I rate Jake Wright & believe CCV is a good defender (despite recent cock ups), Basham is the single most pressing defender we have & puts the opposition forwards under pressure very early on, often winning the ball back. I get that he’s Mr Utility, but he’s wasted at wing back.

Stearman got a full game under his belt after injury. I thought he played very well last night, but was partly at fault for their second goal playing everyone onside. That positional sense will return with fitness though I’ve no doubt.

Lundstram looked a quality footballer. Played the Coutts role exceptionally I thought & taking into consideration this was only his 4th (I believe?) start, I thought he looked right at home in the centre of our unit. Showed for every ball out of defence, generally moved the ball forwards usually with quality & a very good assist for Clarke’s goal. Still needs an extra touch at times, but generally very good yesterday.

Mark Duffy was Mark Duffy. Absolutely sublime & unlucky not to have at least 1 goal.

A bit like the Fulham game, on another day we steamroller the opposition & they wouldn’t have had too many complaints. The only real plight from the game (apart from the result of course) was Flecks moment of madness. Alas, we move on & hope Lady Luck shines a little in our favour over the next few weeks at least!

On a different note, we had four goals disallowed against Port Vale at home last season.

It was like a flashback to Peter Hetherston playing for us.
Yes I was thinking of him but couldn't remember his name ,in his first match at Bramall lane he was very unlucky with striking the woodwork on at least 4 occasion Dave .Bassett signed him in that I'll fated season ,he didn't stay long but that's the most times I can remember us hitting the post in one game
