I'm not sure ridicule is the right word? I want him to do well. I equally think it's worth making fun of our fans, who gave Ched a much better reception when he jogged up and down the touchline than they did Billy Sharp coming off, having won us the game.

Now now Steve , thats simply untrue . Billy was given a rapturous standing ovation when he came off . Ched got applauded whilst warming up as a direct two fingers up to the Barnsley fans who were jeering him .

the first touch of Steve Kabba, the pace of Craig Beattie and the footballing brain of Connor Sammon
:)

An increasing problem at Bramall Lane, let’s not underplay it either, is Gary Sinclair
100% agree. Did we need an effin' lecture on what had happened in Barcelona, and on the hows and whys of why it was a terrible thing ? Did we ? Really ?? He talks to us, collectively, like we are 5 years old.

Simultaneously, on Saturday, his platitudes about Barcelona (but not, eg, about Sierra Leone) just made his words sound gauche, and his rationale arbitrary. I don't mind being patronised by someone with real talent or ability who I respect, but I'm afraid that "Everyone Must Listen To Me" Gazza just makes my guts churn. Oh, and let me talk to my lad and my mates about the game at half-time, instead of drowning everything out with your own bloody voice !! Boooooooooooooooo !!

He does need to rein it in.

For what it's worth...I think Ched's shown in the few glimpses we've seen that he's good enough for this league, whether he can get back to the levels of fitness and firing on all cylinder's again is another question.

UTB!

Ched's performance against Walsall is the only reason that we have a game against Leicester that I am looking forward to. He was behind all 3 of our goals.

In the 3 or 4 short appearances that I have seen, he has shown that he still has more ability to shoot hard and accurately on the turn than any of the rest of our players, including Billy. He also knocks the opposition around a lot, and almost never gets knocked over himself.

I couldn't give a fuck about anything else.

UTB

yeah i agree with the volume is ridiculously loud ShockingBadBuy . i realised last season best to chat during the game sometimes. as at least i can hear the other persons reply. but for all gary sinclairs problems. do really want a rent a guy in who doesnt know us like majority of stadiums do

Driving home, listening to RS, the announcer at Fulham read exactly the same words, so I assume it was a directive to all clubs, in which case, you're aiming at the wrong target in this instance. At Fulham they had a minute's applause, maybe that was at the club's discretion.

I said the same to my mate on the journey home. He just said " I switch off when Sinclair is talking"

I must admit I do like Gary Sinclair, though I'm a bit biased as he represented United at my Dad's funeral when none of us had even thought about anyone from The Lane being there.
Agree that the volume is a bit too loud at HT & you can't hold a conversation with the person next to you.
If you want to appreciate how good he really is at his job we just need to get his stand in from 2-3 years ago back for a couple of games ........

In all seriousness, Ched's every shade of shocking. I'm sure he still has a cracking shot, but I think his cameos have been appalling. Bad touch. Weak. No link up play. Football does not stick to him.

I assume his cameo against Barnsley is the only one you've seen then.

And 'weak', FFS? Seriously? His bulk and his strength is actually what's holding him back a bit because it's slowed him down.

Some people just seem to miss the humour in this blog! I enjoyed it again, keep em coming.

I've seen him in every game. He looked weak and slow to me.

If this wasn't Ched Evans that were talking about, I would be saying the same about X signing, and I think most people wouldn't be quite as positive. I just don't think he's what we need and I think the support he gets is unfounded (purely on his footballing credentials by the way). I don't understand what he's done to get ahead of Lavery, but trust that Wilder has a reason.

Still, this is one player amongst a good start to the season. I just hope there's room to sign the pace we desperately need at the top of the pitch.
