What about Gordon Greer?

On a free transfer and Ipswich, Burton and Bolton are linked which suggests he's not past it at Championship level.

If anyone would be perfect in the middle of a back 3 it's him. Very experienced and a great leader and organiser.

Would be a good influence even if he didn't play much.

Rather sign Germaine Greer

Sean Maguire could be a possibility.

Scored a lot of goals for Cork in Ireland, is being tipped for an international call up, is attracting interest from Championship clubs and has a release clause of just 125k.

I'm sure we have scouted that league.

Think he's a quick type who can also play wide.

Gone to Preston.

Exciting signing for them. He's scored 16 in 11 games this season for Cork. Be interesting to see how he fares.

That's 3 of that league's best players they've signed now along with Andy Boyle and Daryl Horgan.

Just checked him up on Wiki

Seán Patrick Maguire (born 1 May 1994) is an Irish professional footballer who plays as a striker for Championship Club Preston North End FC who also has a massive chopper.

Fikayo Tomori could be a great loan signing.

Centre half who can play right back. Was at Brighton last season (on loan from Chelsea obviously, like most players in the Football League).

Seen him for England U20s and he looks like a great athlete, and quite assured with the ball.

England U20 generally look very good, Solanke, Lookman and Ojo all very impressive. Maybe Ojo could go on loan to the Championship next season, if so then maybe we could try for him. Athletic, bags of ability and looks like he could play the number 10 role.

Didn't want to start another thread with a player suggestion but I've just seen a tweet saying Cameron Jerome is available to buy this summer.

Now I suspect he'd be costly and quite likely cost a alot in wages etc.. but should we push the boat out for a marquee striker signing this summer as mentioned by Alan Nixon the sun journo. Would he be a player we'd be happy signing?

Not for me. Stinks of another big name after a payday so not sure he is even on CWs radar.

I rate Jerome, it would depend on wages though. And it looks like he's got 2 years left on his contract, so they'd be high.

He's 30 now, doesn't seem long ago at all we wanted him for £2m when he was 19! Instead we got Horsfield and Akinbiyi. Much better investments.

Not for me.

Sort the pigs would be considering, cos by their logic, if they sign up all the proven strikers in the Championship, no other team can score goals.

Fee + wages means Tufty looks elsewhere

Ojo is a brilliant shout. He'd be a top signing imo

Yep, might be unrealistic though.

As I said, I think he could play in the 10 position, not least because he seems very two footed - he's left footed but set 2 goals up against Italy with good crosses from his right. So he can go either way with the ball, and he also seems good at keeping hold of it, strong enough to hold off challenges, and doesn't look rushed in possession.

With first team football and the freedom to play that position we could be a great move for him. But with him being English and between the ages of 18-21, he's probably obliged to sit in the U23s for another season at least. I think greedy PL clubs prefer to keep them in their U23s unless interested clubs pay a massive percentage of their stupid wages. How intelligent.

Alex Pearce might actually be available now Derby have signed Curtis Davies. Saw a rumour Bristol City could go for him if they lose Flint, which could suggest he'll be available.

Would be quite costly but he's what we need, and there seems to be a shortage of decent CB options out there on free transfers.

I expect Ojo will go to a bottom end PL club on loan now so may be a little out of reach. He's had a loan spell in the Championship and did well. A Liverpool supporter I know rates him. I suspect they will want him tested in the PL now.

Derby are going for it again. Davies is a very good signing at this level and there's reports they agreed a 4m fee with Liverpool for Andre Wisdom. Big spending sprees haven't paid off for them in the past but this could be there year as I'm not sure the 3 who have come down are any great shakes.

Apparently in a battle with Derby and Forest for Adam Smith.

If he would be signing for all three as back up, then I can't see us getting him as it will boil down to money and the others will offer bigger wages.

He'd have the best chance of playing with us or Forest. Derby have Carson as first choice. Forest don't have anyone too convincing.

Cameron Jerome is quite simply the worst finisher in football

If he was given one hundred one on ones with a six year old goalkeeper he'd miss 99 of them

If the six year old goalkeeper ran off to get an ice cream instead Jerome would still miss 90 of them

Primary reason he's never played consistently at a higher level. He's tall and strong, and isn't slow. Has all the attributes of a great striker... aside from being able to score goals.

Cameron Jerome - quick, athletic, physical, willing runner. But Couldn't finish his dinner.

That has neil warnock written all over it imo. Return to Cardiff wouldn't surprise me at all.

Danny ward would be one I'd be tempted to take a chance on. Supposed to be very talented but was abit difficult to motivate earlier on in his career. Feel like wilder could get the best out of him.

Good call on Jerome to Cardiff, they seem to have more money than I thought they did. And Warnock wanted him years ago. Add the fact it's his former club and it seems like an obvious move.

I thought Ward would've gone to Cardiff by now. He'd complete our forward line nicely but maybe it would mean not signing a right winger, as he can also play there.

That's what I thought - would cover a couple of positions.

Don't think it's a particularly likely one to happen but if he's happy not moving house I don't see why not...

He does have all the attributes that a striker needs

And he can lash An occasional one in from 30 yards or score a brilliant overhead kick or something like that

But roll one across the face of goal for a tap in and he'll either fall over, slip at the vital moment, get there too early, get there too late or somehow steer his touch wide or over the bar from 3 yards

He'd absolutely infuriate me if he was our player

This year's Alfie Mawson, someone who is plying his trade at a low level, but will end up in the Premiership is Sean Raggett of Lincoln City.

Remember the name, see where he ends up, saw Craig Dawson playing at Rochdale a few years ago, got the same feeling about this lad.

He's absolute class at the level he's been playing at. Born leader.

In fact, if we've got anything left once we've signed our key players we should offer to buy him and loan him back to Lincoln for the season.

Should we try? Wouldn't have thought we'd have any chance, but if those 4 Championship clubs are trying then we could too.

Would have to be a loan obviously. Maybe signing Jagielka could help convince a player like him to join us?

So they're after a new keeper. And Konstantopoulos has signed a contract to stay.

Should we see if they're daft enough to sell Connor Ripley? An absolute long shot I'd say, but he'd be a great investment.

Wednesday would be daft to sell Westwood, he's by far their best player.

Pains to say it, but Westwood is probably one of the best goalkeepers in the division, 3m is fuck all.... calling bullshit on that one...
Decent keeper, but just one of many in the Championship.

Westwood was the 4th best keeper in the play offs, behind Al-Habsi, Ward & Bettenelli :)
