Anyone got any ideas on who we should loan in this window coming up anyone for positions we need desperately or to strengthen the squad
Any ideas people?

I fully expect Hammond and Burn
to sign until Jan. Can't say that we need anything else as the squad is good enough for the top 2 as it is.
Just got a feeling that it was these 2 that NA was after and now we will complete the moves - albeit only loans with a view...

UTB!

In my opinion we need a traditional centre midfielder who can hold the ball, tackle and pass this should be our no1 priority and ideally we need another centre back to partner edgar i don't mind collins but we could get better.

Would Kevin Nolan ex of West Spam do in midfield for us. I can dream can't I ? :-)

Why would Kevin Nolan even contemplate moving to a third division club when he can have the pick of almost any 'Championship' clubs and perhaps one or two struggling Premier Clubs ???

I think he's unattached after leaving the filthy bastards on 27 Aug.

He may be looking for a club to develop into coaching or assistant management and that means he might be prepared to drop down the leagues.

Just sayin...

Least we've started the dan burn deal again hopefully have him in for bury this Saturday

I thought we were going to get Messi in on loan?

Haven't heard much about Dominic Matteo and Jason Koumas for a while. Are we still interested?

Am I right in thinking that the maximum loan length we can sign anyone on in this window is 93 days?

If so I'm not expecting Burn to sign until the end of the month, so that he is available for the xmas / new year run-in before signing permanently on 1st Jan

We really don't need to guess. We will do everything we can to bring in Hammond and Burn. Nigel really wants them both. He thinks, with those two additions, we'll have a team to win the League.

Is that your own guess/opinion, or are you in the know on this one?

I'm not being anti or funny, just curious to how much hope I should have. I would be happy with both of these signings

It's an informed "guess" founded on paying close attention to what Nigel and Big Jim were saying on and after deadline day, then reading between the lines...

That's near enough to make me optimistic, thanks

Don't hold your breath though. To take players through the Christmas period into January (in order to make a seamless loan into permanent deal) don't expect this to be completed until towards the end of the window.

I'm quite sure we will actively pursue those two, probably at the end of the month. Nigel's RS interview immediately after the Hartlepool match was very revealing. He made it clear he was chasing two players. He accepted that Burn was one and from his description of the other, who he clearly regarded as a game-changer (sorry), it was clear that it was someone he knew well and rated very highly indeed. Together with the surrounding speculation, I have no doubt at all it's Dean Hammond.

He didn't sound downbeat (does he ever) about the situation, it was clearly 'live' all the way to the cut-off (he was still at The Lane until 6) and he said the other clubs would not release the players "yet".

I don't know whether we'll get them but I'm sure we're gonna try damned hard. Beyond that, we'll have to ask Magic Mike XXL, the Harlee Dean man...
