Positives

This is true, at some point we have to start getting points. But we are very close every game and that's a fact. It's not like we got smashed 5 off palace. It's horrible and frustrating as fuck but 3 or 4 wins can start to get us out of this mess it's not all over.
3 or 4 wins!!!! We're already 2 games away from getting outta the bottom 3 ffs!!!

I wonder how things will pan out in the JTW? Will we spend to hopefully stay up or spend for the future which looks more likely, I guess come the window we’ll know

I like to make sure we're discussing the same thing, if we're discussing.

And

"McBurnie headed away x high balls in his own box" is a fact.

"McBurnie forces his team to hit long passes" is an opinion.

McBurnie having to win all those headers is negative for the team, not positive. That's also an opinion. Choose to dismiss it if you want.

It's not so much an opinion as a statement that can't be proven, but that's me splitting hairs.

An opinion would be 'we play terrible football when McBurnie is on the pitch'.

That's the remarkable thing, after the start we have had, we could well be 10+ points adrift from safety, but the truth it's only 6 points adrift, and 3 or 4 wins really could start to get us out of this mess. There are some really, really shit teams at the bottom of this league who are losing games convincingly, and although we're losing week in week out, we're not losing convincingly. Even when we've been comprehensively outplayed (Man C) we were still only one straightforward Lundstram finish away from a point against one of the best clubs in the world. That sounds like a far easier situation to turn around than if you're getting absolutely tonked every week - not that it's going to be easy to turn this around, for manager or players. But that's why I'm still hopeful and i think there's a rational (as well as emotional) case for being hopeful.

Well, this is the "positives" thread, isn't it.

I won a free lucky dip yesterday on the lottery.

A few random thoughts -

Ramsdale OK shot stopper but seems nervous on crosses and kicking is unpredictable.

Baldock Lots of effort, gets forward well but crosses let him down and relies on his speed to recover which leads him to overcommit.

Basham Did a job defensively but did not add much going forward.

Egan Fairly solid all game, not sure why he is not a force on attacking corners.

Bryan Doing OK defensively, offers little going forward but there seems no better option right now.

Lowe Too eager to stick his foot in when he has no chance for the ball, needs to make better choices.

Osborn Seemed steadier then Lowe and added more control going forward.

Fleck Did OK but seems to be taking the easy option or forcing a pass that is not on.

Berg Does not seem to be the fit for CM in our system, defense is not his strength, much better at RCM.

Lundstram Tries going forward but does not seem committed to defence, tracks players but eases off, looses attention as the ball moves away.

Norwood His strength came when he had two overlapping CBs creating width and gaps, he is not suited to a short passing tight game.

McBurnie Thought he was quite good and worked hard throughout, set up Burke, sadly to no good effect.

Burke Was always a threat but, unfortunately, could not get his feet together when it counted, a useful out but not sure he should be a starter.

Brewster Showed effort and willingness to take a chance, perhaps time to give him a start now he is getting used to the system.

In general would expect Ampadu and Stevens to come back into the starting team and Brewster to start ahead of Burke; Lundstram and Lowe on the bench with Jags and Sharp dropping out.

When in the Championship a few years back, I said our team was too good to go down….. But, if we can stop the injury wave and get a consistent team I do think we have a shot at finishing 17th. Not a great ambition, just the best we can do with how we are performing.

Moose is out again with a dodgy ankle so the positive is its unlikely CW will get his car park space pinched this week.

CW has already said it will be 2 loans, 1 British 1 foriegn and that's it.

Only positive is not going to the actual games and as a result a tad easier to stick the fingers in the ears and go ' lah lah lah everything is fine, what football?' on a Monday morning at work...

Hello, Stegosaurus, here

McBurnie played well. Hopefully scoring gives him a confidence boost

Reasons to be positive

Liverpool have let in 1 less goal than us this season.

Man Utd GA 17
Southampton GA 17
Liverpool GA 17
SUFC GA 18
Everton GA 18
Brighton GA 18
Burnley GA 18

Leeds GA 20

Positives:
No money spent on season ticket.
No money spent in pub before/after the game.
No freezing bollocks off on kop November to February.
No money spent on train tickets to and from the game.
No wishing I'd stayed in the pub.
No saying of "But luv, I was sober when I got on t'train home ".
No thinking about driving to the Boxing day game cos no trains (Port Vale 2014).
No Blades scrapping with each other, which can happen when it's not going well.
No leaving/arriving home at stupid o' clock to suit Sky's daft scheduling.

There are 9 here, none related to what's happening on the pitch. I try desperately to see those, often clutching at straws (celebrating McBurnie's goal joyously), but then seeking solace by considering the above. I'll be glad to see the end of this year, and this season. However, I've taken quite a few positives from the year (I've been luckier than a lot!), but none from the season.
By the way, I don't think CWAK should be sacked, but a spell in the naughty corner and writing "I must not fritter Princey's dosh" 1000 times would be an appropriate punishment. This season. Ta for reading!!

I won 20 quid, last game it was a tenner and a fiver before that. If it rolls on like this for the rest of the season I’m buying the fucking prince out and announcing the CWAK Tausendjahriges reich.
Won 28 from a bet of 40 this time. Sadly I didn’t factor into my calculations the odds coming in as we are fucking dog shit, so a 1 point season probably doesn’t result in a private yacht.. still 68 quid on Man U, reckon a return of 80..

Where were the positives from today?
I for one, no doubt in the minority, do like our third strip.
However, on the basis that it isn't bringing us any luck then I suppose that's not a positive either.
On that basis I suppose there weren't any today.
Positives, that is, as well as goals.

Call me old fashioned but green is for keepers not outfield players.
I dislike it intensely.
It’s still better than anything West Brom wear though.

By not wasting my time watching what was an apparently appalling display I got my food shop for the week done as well as vast majority of my Christmas shopping.

Done all my washing for the week too so extra bonus - only down side is I lost a sock. Every fucking time I lose a sock. This one's bright green how can I not find it. Thats annoyed me, other than, relatively productive.
