A few positives from the game:
  • A big one was Holt. It was a real surprise to me that he was in the starting line up but I thought he played well. Not quite sure what he did, but he did it with a lot of energy and enthusiasm.
  • As did most/all the players. Whatever was lacking last night I don't think it was application or effort. We seemed to be playing some kind of underdogs pressing game in the first half.
  • Howard back.
  • Flynn back.
  • Baxter's goal was great. We were right behind it - and I was quietly slagging him off for being greedy right up to the point it curled back inside the post and went in the bottom corner :)
There was plenty of room for improvement - and I don't think we could have complained about the result if we'd've lost but it wasn't all bad.

I can see many of your straw coloured points but we didn't win.
If we are reduced to scratching around for positives after every game then we are screwing summat up majorly. When you have the 3 points in the bag everything else is just flannel.

One of the positives for me was my steak and beer at Wetherspoons in Wednesbury before the match, The Bellwether. Bit of a tradition on a Tuesday evening for me and HB Jnr (and a guest appearance from Mrs HB this week), the steak club at Spoons. Wednesbury, famous for it's tubes according to the info on the wall where we were sat. Inspired an interesting conversation about the industrial heritage of the Black Country and how it compares to the heavy industry further north.

Since we had the square root of f**k all positive to discuss for the rest of the evening.

I'm not quite sure what he's doing at this club but I'm sure of one thing I'd give a one way ticket back to Scotland

Just watched the highlights. Immediately after they score, they have an amazing chance that didn't go in, their player completely misses a follow-up. Looks like we were lucky to get away with a point.
