Just to cheer up Paddy (on the basis that it could be worse), how about a thread about United players who have done time.

I can think of:

Carl Bradshaw (assaulting a taxi driver)
Tony Kenworthy (drink driving)
Ashley Sestanovich (armed robbery)
Jock Dodds (fraud I think).

There must be more....

I'm sure I heard Curtis Woodhouse spent a few nights in the 5 star establishment on Moss Way?

Vinnie Jones

In mean machine at least.

And Simon Tracey, Brian Gayle, Wally Downes and Charlie Hartfield.

Given their respective disciplinary records, it doesn't surprise me that they were cast!

John Gannon should have been convicted of crimes against football!! of all the players to start a private football academy!!.......It did not last long.

Jordan Robertson may soon be added to that list Darren.:(

Hope you are well by the way:)

I could be wrong but didn't Marcus Bent do time for robbing a petrol station with a load of his mates?

Paul McGrath.

I know a bobby the Manchester Met who told us at the time that he'd just had Paul McGrath in his Longsight nick. D&D with no fixed abode. :(

I believe he's since written about that in his autobiography saying it was his nadir.

Wasn't there a player who was on United's books as a youth teamer but ended up getting bombed out of the club and subsequently ended up getting banged up for quite a while for dealing drugs?

:) Gannons hair has all gone now. Was number 2 to Kieth Curle at Mansfield, not sure where he is now, may have heard he is on Notts Countys staff . Poor sven :)

Now at Manchester City as European Scout.

Paul Casey, Nigel Williams. Heard stories of Bobby Campbell being locked up for a night.

Never knew Jock Dodds had done time. Maybe you are thinking about his FA ban for getting involved as an agent in recruiting players to Bogota in Colombia(you can see him on Pathe News being interviewed outside FA HQs)

Brian Bothwell?

Just remembered Jack Fountain (played a few 1st team games for us in the 1950s) for being involved in the bribes scandal (under the same same investigation that led to imprisonment for wendy's Peter swan, Tony Kay and Bronco Layne). He was either playing for Peterborough or York at the time

John Macphail got done for dodging train fairs but I don't think he did bird.

Tony Kenworthy did 15 months for attempting to pervert the course of justice in relation to a RTA, not drink driving.

Didn't Steve Cammack get locked up fairly recently for something...? I'm sure there was something in the press, maybe about a year ago?

Nooooooooooooooooo:)

Nah your kidding !!

Jock Dodds' troubles with the law are mentioned in the who's who book.

George Oghani- youth team player in 70's, released by Man U, we signed him, bit of a scoop on paper as he was highly rated. Not too long after he was released; appears he had a penchant for taking ladies against their will, usually in the Nether Edge area around where the club hd a hostel for youth team players...

He got caught on the train from Sheffield to York using a student railcard, Slap on the wrists and a fine :D

Kyel Reid wants locking in a cupboard for a week for wearing blue boots!

I always thought that story was a bit of an urban legend. Was it reported in the press? Surely, even in the early 80's, footballers were paid enough to afford a (what) £10 rail fare.
