Can we escape relegation to make this one of the most memorable and satisfying seasons of all time?

  • Yes. We gonna do this. We don’t go from the best team in 45 years to one of the worst overnight

So here we are. Totally adrift but with 4 wins out of 5 to keep us dreaming. Thing is. Can we do it?

The gap is too big plus we need all the teams around us to get no points as well as us to keep winning. Sadly we are down but a cup run and more than 11 points will help morale for next season.

Just keep trying to win as many as we can as we go along and then see where we are come the last month of the season. If we accept we are as good as down we should be able to enjoy the 2nd part of the season if we start winning the odd few games again. Who knows, the pressure is probably off the players a little now and if they got a bit of confidence back we might even start playing without fear.

It's still doable but highly unlikely.

Would we say that any team 10 points off the play-offs in the leagues below have no chance of making them? I wouldn’t say so. And, in our case, the teams we’re chasing tend to lose, a lot. We have to eat an elephant, no doubt but we only have to do it a bite at a time. If we’re 5-6 points off with 4 games to go we give ourselves every chance.

With Brighton facing Tottenham and then Liverpool next you can’t imagine them picking up any points, but then again who saw our result coming. Not expecting anything today but get a win against WBA and hopefully that gap is down to 7. Still plenty to play for so fuck knows, but it is unlikely.

We're more fucked than a drunk Riley Reid on the bus of the Harlem Globetrotters - but like Ms Reid let's hope we can have some fun before the arse falls out...

Are you one of those dreadful managers who once read Covey’s book and now thinks they’re some kind of motivational speaker? Eating a fucking elephant indeed.

Still think we can do it although we will lose today maybe even by a few goals.
Its one hell of a bloody mountain to climb.
But I genuinely believe we are better than WBA and Burnley (although they seem to be having all the bloody luck in the world right now). I don't think there is much between us Brighton and Fulham they seem keep picking draws up, also Newcastle are in free fall.
The key will be beating WBA and picking up points when the other sides will be playing Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea and Liverpool as we will have played these twice by the end of February.
We also need some players back to strengthen the bench, Osborn, Robinson, McBurnie and even Mousset if he can get his act together.

With 18 games left, it is doable, if highly unlikely, but it would take something spectacular and a lot of other things to work in our favour.

At the very least, at some point we would need to win 3 or 4 on the bounce, or pick up say 10 points from 12, and we would need to that twice, as well as grinding out the odd point or 3 elsewhere, in order to chase down Brighton or Newcastle, as both are unlikely to do the same. Assuming that might happen, it could leave us in with a shout of pipping one of them on the run in.

In any case I do think we will make a decent fight of it, and we definitely won't finish bottom.

As Blades we are never optimistic ,it goes with being a blade, something happens beyond our control and we end up back at square one but for a bloody change I am going to say we can do it.There seems to be a stirring in the team that has not been there before during this season and the result at Man U most be a real lift for the team but we could have done with a more easier task than Man city to follow up the Old Trafford result.Every man played great against man u .we even saw the old Fleck back and Bryan really took his chance to stake a claim for another run out along with our front two actually looking dangerous which makes a change. So yes lets go for it and save our season YOU CAN DO IT LADS JUST BELEIVE IN YOUR SELVES and fans keep off the players backs ,they want it just as much as we do ,don't make it harder for them.

Our last two games are vs Newcastle and Burnley, as it happens :D

does anyone know what kind of form (in terms of league position) we would need in the last 18 games to escape relegation

I understand that they are very tasty

I don’t think we’ve got a chance, at the moment we don’t need to set big targets like staying up. Just focus on getting 12 points, then if we reach that, the next target is getting off the bottom.
in truth the people who matter are actually focussing on the next game and that hasn't changed since wilder walked in. It is 3 points at a time. As for fans, the hope is we pass Derby, then we target /west brom etc as you say

If we lose all our prem games between now and the end of the season but win all our FA cup games I'd be a very happy man :)
