All draw aren’t we? But seriously, huge game for us this and PNE win would likely see them above us given that we would have to get three points at Fulham. Very much hoping they don’t win and also hoping Bristol don’t win because they would be 5 points clear if we didn’t beat Fulham.

I'm focusing on our game with Fulham

Plenty of twists and turns to come yet and although we will all keep an eye out on other scores I’m inclined to agree on the lines with Swiss and concentrate on us picking up points. No reason why we can’t get a result tonight then we have less reason to worry about others. We may be 8th but we are still in the driving seat

I think I would rather PNE win.

Bristol just spanked the Owls at home.

Last thing we want is them racking up points on the road. A 3-0 reverse would put their GD nicely in check.

They’d both be on 57 and we’d have a game in hand next Tuesday to take us to 58, notwithstanding us winning tonight.

Derby at QPR and Boro at Brum, under new management are not shoe ins either.

We don’t want anyone getting away from us when we have arguably our most difficult fixture.

Really? Worried about PNE personally considering they’ve just Sean Maguire back who’s been out for four months and he came off the bench to score two on Saturday. Surely cannot want Preston to rack up points and momentum especially when after Saturday they have a few winnable fixtures. Draw is absolutely the best result.

Draw puts Bristol 3 points ahead with a better goal difference. If we win we will still not be in the top 6. If PNE win, then 3 points for us takes us 6th.

Then we just need to maintain. Maybe they have Maguire coming back. We have Brooks coming back.

Preston seem to hold their own remarkably well in this league. Far better than some of these teams with foreign owners who just spunk money on players and big name managers. It goes to show the importance of running the club well at all levels.

You'd like to think that regardless of money spent; if United are run like Preston then they ought to finish above Preston every season due to much bigger gates, being a more attractive place and having a better academy. Finishing above them would probably mean playoffs most seasons!

We still have to play both Preston and Bristol City so if we stay the pace we will be able to nullify any result tonight.

I’d take the last game at Bristol to claim sixth spot.

Preston win for me...if we manage to get anything down at the cottage tonight, it keeps it nice and tight around the final play-off place. Last thing we need is Bristol getting their mojo back, putting a run together and pulling away.
As we’ve still got to play both, if we stay within 3 pts of each, it’s technically still in our own hands to claim that 6th spot

With a game in hand and both still to come to BDTBL

I'm intrigued.

If we're speaking "regardless of money" why does having "much bigger gates ,
being a more attractive place and having a better academy" mean "we ought to finish above them"

I don't see where the extra points are coming from there.

A Preston win please, all day long.

Couldn't give a shit.

We have a quarter of the season left to play. It's absolutely in our hands. If we're good enough we'll make the play-offs anyway. Might worry about other games in the last week of the season but until then it's too early to have any concern about.

Precisely. We can only influence our own games. “Wishing” other results, except in the last handful of games, is speculative anyway. The result you wished for could easily turn out to be exactly what you didn’t need.

What I meant, and probably didn't put across correctly, when I said without money I meant not having some foreign billionaire owner using the club as their own personal play thing .

So if us and Preston are clubs that are managed very well from top down in a similar way. Then you'd hope that we'd have that bit extra for wages and fees because of the gates; be more attractive to players as a club and a city than Preston; and hopefully we'd have the extra bonus of us bringing better players through the academy, which also means we should be better.

A Blades win tonight with a pne vs brizzel draw would be the best outcome.

Maguire plays for another team. He must be great.

Not the worst result as it means it is still in our hands. Plus Flint was sent off and Bryan is banned- hopefully they drop points in the game they miss.
