Not aiming at anyone here but what a spat over nothing.

Yes it is and it has gotten way out of hand. As the above posts will show I simply challenged the rumour because I didnt believe it. I then also had to defend my integrity because I had been accused of calling someone a liar. I apologised for any offence I may have caused and tried to firmly explain that this wasnt the case. Somehow I managed to become involved in a spat when admittedly I should have left it at the second post. Hold my hands up to that, ive played my part in dragging the argument out.

swollengland - I think its perhaps a bit dramatic to boycott the forum all-together because someone has disagreed with you. It would be a shame for you not to post on the forum because of an argument caused my something so trivial. Please reconsider and accept that my intentions werent offensive. After all, I dont even know you as you say. My initial post was meant as harmless banter and I can genuinely promise you that. But I will not be accused of calling someone a liar because thats not what I'm about. Thats my final word.....apologies to all for the nonsense in this thread. I'm sure it has been entertaining for some though

Going back to the original rumour/fact/sighting/whatever:-

1) Megson was Speed's manager at Bolton so there is a link there.
2) The "Director of Football" position that McCabe offered to Bryan Robson and Graham Taylor has never been filled.
3) The main reason I don't like Megson is because of his snidy comments about Warnock after the Battle of Bramall Lane. McCabe has fallen out with Warnock, so maybe that doesn't bother him so much.
4) I don't think McCabe would be daft enough to offer Megson a job but then I didn't think he'd be daft enough to offer Robson a job or give a rookie manager a three year contract.
5) Let's hope that it was that bloke of the Full Monty after all!

As for the original subject i do believe what you are saying as all sorts has gone off done at the lane that has nothing to do with sufc he could of been at a meeting or something similar. Wasn't there an FA hearing there once nothing to do with united??

Thank you Norfolk. The voice of reason as ever. It did get way out of hand and I find it laughable that someone would spit the dummy out over this. My original post was intended as banter hence the term "behave." The kind of thing you say if you think someone has said something provocative or that is likely to evoke a reaction. I wish I hadnt said owt!

I would normally leave something so petty alone but I found the suggestion that I was calling someone a liar a little offensive. Its quite clear to everyone else that it wasnt the case. I'm still relatively new to the forum and dont appreciate my character being called into question when I'm trying to establish some credibility amonst fellow members. Having said that, I was prepared to forget about it and move on as long as swollengland accepted that an agreed to be amicable. It seems that is not possible which is a shame.

What should have been a dud thread has actually turned into a cracker in the sense that it has probably been great entertainment for everyone watching the squabble. One short statement has created all this
