Please do not defend Wilder

If Rosen is to be believed regarding incoming investment, then hopefully they would be more savvy in football matters than Rosen and co. Any sizeable investor would want to have a say in the direction of the club, starting with the manager.
The only problem with this is the stranglehold that Bettis seems to have over this club and owners. He's been around a long time now under different ownership and problems like poor or slow recruitment and player contracts have been ever present regardless of who owns the club, what division we're in or who is the manager. The lack of foresight with recruiting managers is as much down to him as he seems to approach it as it's safer to go back to what you know that actually seek out something different.

He is a glorified accountant and not a football man but he's convinced everyone who pays him that he knows his arse from his elbow. We need to get rid of him as much as anyone else as we have made the same mistakes over and over whilst that farcical yes man has been involved in the running of this football club.

It would not surprise me one bit if they sacked Wilder and Bettis tried to hire Hecky as "interim" manager until the summer, while they look to recruit a new manager, but end up sticking with Hecky if we don't get relegated. Different season. Same old mistakes. Same old shit.

The big problem is …..if Wilder goes now (sacked or resigns) do we really trust these owners to appoint someone with the energy, desire, ability to build a squad and take us forward? Particularly if they are in the process of sorting out the ownership structure with a view to selling? It’s a tough one… I can’t call how this may end up.
well udders surely theyve learned from the selles fiasco and will take more consultation this time i dont believe as some are posting on here that dropping to league 1 would be the best thing for us we have to stay in the championship

100% dropping to League 1 would be a disaster for us as a club and financially.

True RWB, but say if someone like Boehly did come in, he wouldn't give a toss who he'd upset or sack. Bettis for example may get the benefit of the doubt, until the slow arsed actions in a transfer window impact the investment and then he wouldn't get another chance.

I think the club being so relient on him is a massive problem. I was behind the Selles appointment becauuse it appeared we were looking to restructure.

My worry is that if he goes, the Owners don't actuaully know what a good manager looks like. Who are they going to bring in?
That’s the issue isn’t it? They remove Wilder, they need someone to come in and have the law prints over everything just the same.

Whilst I’m not totally sold on DoF because of the obvious accountability issue between one and a manager that doesn’t mean you can’t have structured in place that can function of their own accord.

We didn’t need Mike Allen and Jamie Hoyland this past window. We could have come up with an equal if not better list than them. Even the one who probably had least knowledge of, Donovan, excelled against Wednesday in the cup, so that made him known to us, and he works for the club of two of the managers former staff.

In the last two windows who have we signed permanently that showed any imagination or that you thought was a good addition?

List them:
Doherty (34)
Ayew (35)
Choudhury (28)
Riedewald (30)
Rothwell (31)

The only one I would have considered, purely on age would have been Choudhury and to be frank, I’d have been signing him as a midfield alternative to Phillips, not as my right back option, especially when I’d somehow landed myself with Doherty and Shackleton who would never have been signed given his lack of size.

Look at the out of contract players for next year, which we should already be doing now anyway given foreign players can sign 6 months ahead. Players like Jason Knogjt the Bristol City captain, 25, Manhoef at Stoke, 24, Ronald, 25 at Swansea etc as local ones.

We seemed to be at last knockings this time around.

Wilder was brilliant when he joined in 2016 - he was exactly what we needed after 6 years declining in League 1. He was experienced in management but hungry to build a team and excited to manage his boyhood club. He was not afraid of taking risks and playing ‘front foot in your face football’.

Sadly now for me, he’s lost that hunger - he’s 10 years older, I’m just not sure he’s got the desire to do this again ….despite what he may say. He’s at the back end of his managerial career & I just can’t see him being able to turn this around properly. Yes - we may scrape survival - but Wilder is not going to build a squad fit for the Premier League again.

Aren't those type of ambitions unrealistic given the shape of the squad, colossal structural problems that inhibit a rebuild, and the volume of time it would take anyone to turn it around?

I'm asking because there seems to be a perception that this squad came into the season with a realistic chance of achieving any of that. I don't see it. In fact I think it's the height of delusion

I do agree that CW is unlikely to oversee it, but for different reasons. He's 58 years old, and even if there was a favourable takeover tomorrow and a successful rebuild over the next four or five windows (all incredibly unlikely regardless of manager) we're surely looking at 3-5 years for an automatic push.

*That timeframe is predicated on us avoiding relegation which seems a far more likely scenario in the next 1-3 seasons imo.

Don't think you can sign foreign players 6 months in advance if they are based in EFL.
Believe that "rule" is for European players when you are playing championship manager.

Point 1
Its as simple as this. If you're playing 442 you are playing to get the crosses in, that cant be done if a right foot is on the LM and a left foot is on the RM, it needs to be quite the opposite. What happened to getting the ball to the byline fast so everyone is running towards the goal, including the defenders you literally only have to beat one defender to achieve this goal and you've got 2 guaranteed options in the box followed by midfielders approaching the edges. and an opposite midfielder arriving at the back post. by cutting in you literally doing a defenders job for him driving the pitch smaller and playing the player into more traffic and because we've not got any technically gifted players or 3rd man runners we aren't able to create the chances or the spaces.

Point 2
The Space between the midfied and the attack because the defenders are sat so deep, especially noticed in the second half against league 2 outfit Fleetwood, raises concern to the leadership in defense and actual intelligence in the team. The time spent passing sideways until Mcguiness or Tanganga did floating diagonal pass that was so telegraphed even David Blunkett would of got to it. I feel sometimes its like they are trying to reinvent the wheel, we should just be focusing on getting the basics right and creating chances we aren't going to score goals if the worse two footballers the CBs are the ones on the ball, their job is to stop the goals that's it! The most i feel sorry for are the attackers they are starved of chances. Its law of averages game and it always has been for me and we aren't adhering to the classic way of playing HARD WORK BEATS TALENT 9 times out of 10, play to our strengths which is getting down the line and firing the ball across the goal we don't have anyone like a Gus anymore who can cut in and score screamers or find a final pass so why play that way

point 3
If the performance isn't a proper blades performance at the weekend i think the pitch folks will be out
