For years I have mixed feelings about the playing from the back style. It is fine to use this style if you have the players to do it. I dont think we have conceded a goal this season when playing from the back and more often than not we have played this with success. I have seen other teams in this division concede goals when they got pressed.

We did this method ok yesterday but noticed that Wendy didnt try this until late in the first half and nearly lost possession when they tried for the first time and the ball went out of play for another goal kick. I noticed Michael Smith waving at the defence and signalled Beadle to boot the ball up the field when taking the goal kick.

For the rest of the game Wendy didnt try to play from the back from a goal kick.

I was glad we didn’t get sucked into the mentality of “it’s a derby let’s just knock it”.

It helps having a CB like Anel who is so composed with the ball at his feet

It's OK when you've players who male space for a pass... against any side that presses well we struggle with it... like most sides do.

I thought we calmed things down and took control in the first half by playing out from the back and beating their press.

Have to say, I didn't get the tactics from their Champions League coach. Blackwell had more sophistication than that. He seemed to set them up to rely on Smith and Patterson to cause us problems, and then plan B was to swap full backs
