Rubbish
If a club says £15 million, it's £15 million

They might accept £12 or £13 million, but offering £10 million is insulting and immediately pisses off all parties.

If you don't want to offer something close to the asking price walk away and stop making us look like a bunch of small time pricks.
According to the very respected The Athletic.....

Nottingham Forest’s resolve with a bid for Matty Cash — but the Premier League club are not understood to have matched Forest’s £15 million valuation of the full-back, reports Paul Taylor.

Villa are believed to have proposed a deal that could have been worth in the region of £10 million, dependent on various add-ons, but Forest remain steadfast with the price tag on the 23-year-old.

Jason McCarthy who decided to join Barnsley - quote “I’m delighted I picked Barnsley and I wouldn’t have chosen anyone else.” And when ask about snubbing us said “It’s 1-0 Barnsley in that respect,”

Karma is a bitch how do I know that well after making 21 appearances for Barnsley he was sold to Millwall during which time he made 2 appearances then loaned out to Wycombe last season where he made 9 league one appearances.
Who?

Was going to ask about this. I read (think it was in the Tony Pritchard(Pritchett?) column) that they both turned us down in the same season. Ian 'Gordon' Wallace (It's a long time ago) was very successful at Coventry.
Wallace cost some team a million quid later.

Anybody can put whatever value they want on a player, either match the valuation or at least get close to it, or walk away.
We've offered £10 million, been quoted £15 million and walked away, fair enough if we had walked away, but we didn't, we kept waffling bullshit, then trying to work freeman into the deal, then lost Freeman as well.
There's a constant load of waffle about keeping our signings secret because we have no intention of competing with other clubs.

But as soon as our derisory offer comes in it alerts everybody and the agent gets to work drumming up more interest. We might as well just pay closer to the valuation if it's a player we really want instead of constantly turning everything into a car boot sale

Or we work to the budget we have. If the budgets car boot sale then that’s we’re you shop. Only bid what he’s worth to you. I am pretty sure Forrest will not have told us the amount they wanted for Cash until after our bid. Then all and sundry new about it.
Chris has put a squad together with relative fuck all to get us promoted. Then spent wisely to keep us up and finish higher than most of us believed.

Leroy Lita for the better from his point of view I'd say!

"Sheffield United had a seven figure sum accepted by Reading for Lita on 13 January 2009, but the club later withdrew from proceedings after they were not willing to pay the £1.2m signing-on fee being requested by Lita. On 3 August 2009, it was announced that he would join Middlesbrough on a free transfer."

Boro happened to be our first fixture of that new season and he played against us but didn't score in a 0 - 0 draw.

He went on to score 20 goals over the next couple of seasons which then earned him a move to Premier League new boys Swansea but it didn't really work out notching only twice. Another couple of years later he ended up scoring 6 in 17 for the Pigs on loan.

35 and plays for Nuneaton Borough now.

If he doesn't go anywhere it's because the price wasn't met, or a suitable offer wasn't made. A bit like when we held out for mega money when a higher club came calling.
I look forward to watching him throwing a strop, playing crap, not trying, killing the Forest dressing room stone dead and in doing so ruining any chance of moving anywhere else at some point in the future.
Because all footballers are that stupid apparently
