With a lot being talked about transfers already I think our nige will also take a larger look at the existing squad, so who is there potentially ready to make the step up from younger teams or the fringe players, please feel free to add some as I'm Just listing off the top of my head:

Connor dimao: potentially a huge season for him coming after a few cameos this term and impressing, arguably moving ahead of Mcginn in the pecking order, his composure on the ball is fantastic and one of a few prospects that could stamp their authority on the first team.

Otis khan: not seen as much of him and for me the only game I've seen him personally is the Rotherham game, liked him a lot, direct running and not afraid to have a go at his man, has pedigree after coming here from Manchester United a couple of years ago, has a lot of potential and again, with an injury to flynn or murphy could get his opportunity.

Louis reed: the little man, his ability on the ball was apparent to see vs Rotherham, I fact he along with the aforementioned pair linked up better than any if the others on the pitch which bodes well, maybe the second half of the season for him to give him chance to physically develop more but still hope we see him dictating the play and making the crucial through balls.

Dom Calvert- lewin: would like someone to add something about him as I haven't seen him but the fact he's featured on the bench under clough must say something, looks a little bigger than the others but as I say I don't know to much about him.

Diego degirolamo: the prodigy, will we ever see him or will a major European team come In For him as rumoured, sounds like he has a few workrate issues which don't sit well with clough but he obviously has huge talent as he's represented Italy several times at youth level, make or break for him in pre season in my opinion.

Others that I dint know a great deal about and others could possibly fill in on: Joel coustrain, mikael partodikromo: dan cockerline??
Either way blades the future looks bright - onwards and upwards!!!

salt went to Barnsley, but think he may have been released from there, Max was playing for Hallam or Sheffield FC I think

Mika is being released, along with Gareth Owen, Elliott Ptak and Jake Eyre.

dominic calvert lewin is potentially the best of them all six foot plus ,a natural athlete with two good feet scores and creates chances he could be a real star in the making and he is only just 17 watch this boy come through!!

The Academy can only achieve excellence by gradually discarding those deemed less than excellent.

It's natural selection and, whilst we, of course, sympathise with those who don't quite make it, that's football and that's life!

Unless they have a fancy name, in which case they must be brilliant!

I've never been called disillusional, thank you.

Now then lets talk about the "crap" being talked. Unfortunately for you its probably the voices in your own disillusional mind (I like that word so much I have now used it). There is next to no one saying its just because of a name, but what a few people are saying is that this is a kid who is 18 and while its all good and proper to get the Kleenex out and pull your pud till it falls off, the kid has ability and thus far thats it. I know kids who were far better players than I was, but they never made it past Sheffield Boys, or Junior Blades. I know kids who weren't fit to lace their boots get contracts with clubs and make something of a living out of the game. You know what the difference was, application and determination. Oh and a slice of luck to not get injured. Diego needs to do a lot before he even breaks the first team. Jags is a brilliant role model for people like this. He isn't the worlds best centre half but his attitude mixed with his ability have taken him to the top of his game.

Diego is right on a knife edge now and the pressure being put on him to make the first team isn't in my opinion having a positive impact. Fans are almost baying for him to start, so he starts thinking he is better than he is. His training suffers and next thing you know he is doing a stint at Mansfield or Bristol Rovers.

The name thing is a running joke that you may have failed to pick up, but the underlying point is the kid stands out because he is good, has a fancy name and plays for Italys U18's rather than Englands. Perhaps someone needs to keep the kids feet on the ground.

Still embarrassed?

If only he was called Bill Socket.

I'm still embarrassed because iv'e just been caught:eek:
As for your reply ,i get the drift,i didn't know about the running joke and i apologise if iv'e caused any offence,i just don't like people taking the piss out of our young uns ,especially our own fans, until they've graced the stage to be actually shot at,and in diegos case he has quite a few doubters on here allready, but once again my apologies

No offence taken, I wouldn't take uneccessary pot shots at the first team let alone the kids (Marlon King was the exception), but I do worry that we overcook how good they are before they have even begun to prove it themselves. Jordan Slew anyone?
