When Wilder said he was saying that he only signed players with good character, was he meaning signing 'yes men' and those that would be good drinking company?

Because right now the character of alot of our players leaves alot to be desired.

Mousset drink driving
Mcburnie drink driving and street fighting
Fleck stomping on players head

Sometimes I wonder if a poor drinking culture has been instilled within the club over the Wilder years.

Jesus wept no wonder our season has been an absolute shambles of highest proportions

Bet you weren’t pondering this after the second promotion in 3 seasons.

We can't keep going on about the previous four seasons, it's gone now, it's history.

This season has been a disgrace of epic proportions, we might have surpassed Derby's points total, but there is no way they were as crude, unskilled and having to resort to hoofball because they were so far out of their depth as this lot.

And a fair share of the blame has to be attached to CW for it.

Rubbish bet you weren't going on about the players character when we won the old first division in 1897

If that was the case we would still be playing Che Adams and Mark McNulty up front.

You learn more about people when things are hard than when they are easy.

This group of players are broken. They've lost 34 of 46 league games since restart. Discipline and application on the pitch have certainly gone. Fitness levels appear to be slipping. And off field incidents are now appearing as well.

Tear it down. There's no slight rebuild from this. And Norwich isn't a comparison. They were only non competitive for 10 games. We've had nearly 50

By all accounts Che is acting like a proper professional now. Maybe it's just our club in general that turns players into wankers 🤷‍♂️🤣

Nothing to do with character just not good enough as players if they're not on top form for this level

I think when Wilders talked about character it's whether they are a bit prima-donna, selfish sorts etc. He didn't want anyone to come in and not work hard or think they were bigger than the rest. Prince wanted to sign Adebayor about 2 years ago and Wilder shut it down for this reason. That and Adebayor at 36 ain't the same as at 30 etc.

Fleck ain't a bad egg. That incident in the match was dangerous but could be at least be partly accidental, this does happen from time to time in matches.

Mousset hasn't been charged with drink driving, but for crashing his car and driving carelessly. Not that it's much better! Other than that always comes across quite well actually, think his persona in the dressing room is all good. Although Wilder did often mention it's up to him to get himself fit and in contention.

Mcburnie has had a few incidents. This latest one requires investigating but he can certainly find himself in the category of a player with baggage for sure. One that may have required extra and we should be thinking about his future.

Unfortunately what you say CB is true, I cannot raise an argument against it.
I hate to say this but it lies with the owners, they appointed the current management to manage, albeit in the interim, temporary or not, whether footballers, office/shop/general workers it matters not, they as a management team have had their chance and failed miserably, look at the results since they took over, not a glimmer of F all.
Time to act Mr Prince, time to act. UTB

Oh yes they were !!

Pretty much. Character doesn't matter, the players are just bad at football
Or just for this group of players I don't think it's character they're just not good enough for this level unless pretty much all of them are in form.

But no you're right football has nothing to do with ability its all about character. See what I did there

Think wilder was confident of being able to manage these characters. I’m not one for linking a down turn in form to off field issues but the discipline at the club went whilst wilder was still here and that now seems to be accelerated now there’s no manager in place.

I understand that they may be waiting till the end of the season to appoint a new boss. But they should have said that at the onset

Yes, you continued saying that character doesn't matter. Thst mental strength doesn't matter.

Just "form".

You can't understand that I'm saying for this group of players I don't think it was anything to do with character? You think by saying that it means no part of football ever has anything to do with character?

You can't understand that "form" is the definition of character and mental strength. It's not a mystical, magical quality controlled by the Gods. The best players are those who have the strongest character and the most mental strength. They are consistent through adversity.

No because form is not the definition of mental strength and character

Can't be arsed now. Players are shit because of form but you can't question their character. The form Police took it from them

OK glad you've cleared that up obviously I was wrong to think that actual technical football ability had anything to do with it. As you say the best players are simply those with most mental strength 👍
