Anybody in the know about players wages at the club? was talking to a taxi driver on way home about football topic got onto wages and he claims Che Adams who he picks up from training now and again is on 5K a week which i disputed with him but he insists most united players in the first team take home more than 5 figures a week.

Is he not far off the mark or is he talking utter bollocks i think i know the answer but curious to see if anybody on here knows a little more.

He's talking utter bollocks regarding Che, that i'm sure of. We wouldn't pay a development player at that age that sum of money in league one, not a cat in hells chance. I reckon our highest paid player is on about 5k roughly and even that could be pushing it.

At £5k a week = £260k a year
If you say we have 24 in the first team squad that would be £6.24m

Sounds a lot for a third division club.
Gate receipts would be about £7.8m of you calculated and average seat price of £18 for avge 19k for 23 games. That's league games only

Having stated that, whatever it is, it's not value for money.

Our top earners I'd imagine would be around 6k.

Che is not on 5.

I'd be surprised if Brayford was on much more than that.
I bet we still had our premiership parachute money the last time a players was close to 5 figures.

Che will be on about 400 to 500 a week with added bonuses, things such as making substitute appearances or actual starts:rolleyes: As Chris Tarrant once said.. we don't want to give you that.

Can't remember whether it was the season we came down, or after it all went Pete Tong, but weren't Doyle and Collins the high earners, and they re-negotiated their contract for an extra year at a lesser wage to put them on 5k. Finances have picked up a little and would imagine Murphy might be slightly over that, but that's about it.

The Leeds accounts for the year that Delph was sold resurfaced when they received extra funds (for his England cap I believe).
They showed Doyle's wages from Coventry were £10K - about half paid by Leeds from memory.
When he came here Bothroyd said they could not compete with what we were offering him.
Doyle and Collins were Adam's idea of the 'major' signings needed to save our season
It was made plain by Judas himself I believe that the fee for Collins was 'not trivial'!

I don't think some of you realize just how stupid they are at the Lane!
The shambolic 3rd division status should be a bit of a clue!
Dread to think how much we have wasted on Brayford (and Coutts and ..... ) :(

Happy days though eh?

Season tickets and match ticket prices are hardly affected, so it doesn't matter to us fans in the grand scheme of things

How exactly does that work. So you can't bring in the quality of player because it's spooned on those two players, but as long as ticket prices aren't impact it doesn't matter? I'd certainly pay more if we managed ourselves better.

The management manage the finances, we support the club.

From my understanding porter was on nothing like what cresswell was on and Harry was on a lot less than stated.

A financial bloke I know reckoned forte was on £20k a week at Southampton due to generous promotion clauses from league one to the premier. A terrible contract clause on their part as he was never going to feature at that level and they couldn't shed him on those wages.

That website has Chappell and Ironside earning more than Doyle and Collins. I think we can assume it's not 100% accurate

I think so. Like I said I have no idea how they got to those figures. I do recall seeing on a Chesterfield site that Higdon's signature for them foundered on his wage demands of £8,000 p/w so I am guessing he is getting around that with us.

David Weir had players on 500 quid a week. He earns more as assistant at Brentford than he did as manager with us.
From the horses mouth.

Not disputing anything you say as I'm not wise to the contrary but Weir, in his wisdom, did sign Cuvelier on £6k/week.

I'd hope the experienced MD in place now (Brannigan) would put a stop to anything similar happening these days as part of his role.

I'm afraid that I know nothing of how much our players are paid.
However, I may still be able to help you out as one thing I know for sure is that Taxi Drivers talk complete bollocks.
