This has been a big topic in terms of players who should be released/sold and what value they add to the squad. This information has been taken from football manager 2016. I know a lot of people dislike comparing video games to real life but stats wise FM is usually pretty accurate (used by sky transfer center). So here is the full list of the first teams weekly wages and contract expiry date. Bare in mind the game was released in October so players like Che Adams will be on a different contract.

David Edgar - £5000 - 31/05/2016 (loan contract)
Martyn Woolford - £5000 - 30/06/2017
Jose Baxter - £4500 - 30/06/2016
Chris Basham - £4500 - 30/06/2017
Neil Collins - £4500 - 30/06/2016
Michael Higdon - £4500 - 30/06/2016
Paul Coutts - £4000 - 30/06/2017
James Wallace - £3000 - 30/06/2017
Craig Alcock - £3000 - 30/06/2016
Florent Cuvelier - £3000 - 30/06/2016
Ryan Flynn - £3000 - 30/06/2016
Jay McEveley - £3000 - 30/06/2016
JCR - £3000 - 30/06/2016
Bob Harris - £2500 - 30/06/2016
Che Adams - £2000 - 30/06/2018 (Recently signed a new contract)
Kieron Freeman - £1800 - 30/06/2017
Stefan Scougall - £1500 - 30/06/2017
Louis Reed - £1500 - 30/06/2018
Mark Howard - £1500 - 30/06/2016
George Long - £1200 - 30/06/2016
Marc McNulty - £1000 - 30/06/2017

Dean Hammond - £15000 - 30/06/2016 (still at Leicester on the game. We may not be paying £15000 per week.

I know this isn't 100% accurate but I believe this is probably the most accurate way we have.

If you would like me to add any further information to this eg any players I have missed out, player values, total wages, wage budget etc let me know and ill try and get that information.

I know Hammond was on 22k at Leicester ,how much we are paying I don't know. Woolford a quarter of a million a year ?? Worlds gone mad.

The only players I would keep are Sharp, Done, Brayford, Adams & Long. Hammond if he took a big pay cut but I can't see that happening.

Let's say those figures are correct, that is some serious money. Money which can be put to building a decent team to get us out of this mess next season. Keep with Adkins and let him sort it out.

'Hi Mr. McEveley, we understand you've just been released from an average League One side. Would you like £3k a week?'

And we took the option to extend his contract. Jesus.

If that list is there or thereabouts, it really shows how we have contributed to our own continuous slide. £5k a week for Woolford...:(

13 contracts up this summer - let them all go :)

An expert on Blades Mad swore blind he knew for a fact Collins was on £9k a week NOW, and he'd taken a drop from £13k

Scouts with knowledge of player wages?

Whatever happened to Cherno Samba BTW?
I would assume they have a better knowledge base on this stuff than the general public.

According to google he has retired.

Admittedly based on second-hand knowledge, the figure for one of the players is WAYYYY out.

I get that FM's scouting knowledge on players ability is spot-on, that's fine. But salary details? No way. Might as well stick a finger in the air and have a guess.

Don't get me wrong, there is no moral issue here for me, I'm very broad minded & I have no problem with a player exploiting other income streams, but surely the club should look seriously at this - it must be affecting his game.

I know there will be conversations about individuals, but that totals including employers costs to about £5.7m per year - or about 52% of our revenue. If you add Dean Hammond into the mix it takes it up to around 60% which is the maximum we are allowed to spend under SCMP. There are some minor tweaks surround the revenue so it is only an estimate but I would suggest the total figure is there or thereabouts. Obviously if you take McNulty and Higdon out of the mix then it still does give room for manoeuvre - no doubt there will be ins and outs in January.

Then there is youth players and staff wages on top of that.

Figures don't seem too far off given numbers quoted in Clarke Carlisle's book re: how much lower league players actually earn

the contract lengths dont tally with Foxys excellent and correct contract status thread

you cant put any faith into figures EA games have posted
I could possibly find Nintendo would give differing options

true we have players who look only virtual reality at times but thats all the figures are ,
A figment of someones imagination

Neither are counted in SCMP
Ah I didn't know that. Is the rule under a certain age or is it based on something else. For example Che is 19 do his wages count towards SCMP?

Players under the age of 20 at the start of the season who are on a professional contract and have been in the clubs Youth Development Scheme. Not sure if Che was signed into the scheme or not. Maybe the same for Kieron Wallace (although he isn't on your list).

Thanks for clearing that up. Kieron Wallace was in the U21's, I only added the senior squad.

Which is exactly what they do. The scouts can watch players and assess their ability but FM have no more idea of contracts than we do. They just take an educated guess.

It's not the amount they are being paid that concerns me, more how long their contracts are .....

Woolford, Mcnulty, Coutts all here until June 2017. This is seriously depressing.

I can understand why we've been told 'we anticipate it will take longer than first anticipated.'

In what way is it educated though? Based on research of journo comments etc? Based on looking at the player wages in the accounts and carving it up as they see as likely?

Contract information is privileged. The FM figures generally seem like sensible guesses but I suspect that's all they are. I don think their database on player attributes is pretty close to the mark a lot of the time though. Of course, it's harder to get right with teenagers who have played very little football.

Woolford's a bit depressing but Coutts isn't that bad and McNulty will either come good for us or we'll probably be able to actually get some cash for him, if he keeps scoring for Portsmouth.
