Player Wages and Contract Length

In what way is it educated though? Based on research of journo comments etc? Based on looking at the player wages in the accounts and carving it up as they see as likely?

Contract information is privileged. The FM figures generally seem like sensible guesses but I suspect that's all they are. I don think their database on player attributes is pretty close to the mark a lot of the time though. Of course, it's harder to get right with teenagers who have played very little football.
Yes, educated in terms of understanding what players generally get paid in a particular division, factoring in seniority and experience etc. Little more than we do.

Dunno about that, eh DazBlade88 ? ;)

It's bang on for me.

It is an educated guess. They're obviously not exact but they won't be too far off. The contract lengths are accurate at the time of data lock though.

Sheffield United have never had a player like that on FM. Their researcher is that good.
Jags could be a pretty good pick. I promoted him from the reserves (2000/1 version) and his stats rocketed. I think he played for England as he was a key member of my United PL team.

(Yes, I appreciate it was Championship Manager in those days but it's the same game).

Ever = Since the new researcher took over in 2009 ;)

At a guess I figure they have taken the last reported wage bill and apportioned it across the first team players of the appropriate age in the squad based on seniority and whether they were a Bozzy or a fee and made some assumptions.

Bloody scary at best, though.
If those figures are there or thereabouts we must be paying 2-3 times what a lot of the other clubs in this division pay their squad. When you consider the relative performances on the pitch that is frightening

At least they will be saving on bonus payments this season, eh

You can cross-check the total wage bill, but the distribution is probably guesswork.

The 2015 accounts must be imminent but up to June 2014:

Turnover for the football club was £10.5M. If we stuck to SCMP, 60% of that would be first team wages and that would be £6.3M max.

Total wages were £8.4M (that's for everyone admin, coaching staff etc). I would think 75% of that would be first team wages - £6.3M.

I estimate our playing wage bill is probably 3 times that of most squads in the division (you occasionally get exceptions, Wolves, Bournemouth, Brentford etc and we've gone over those reasons many times).

This is the most heartbreaking thing about our stay in L1, we have not had value for money.

I hope Adko sorts it out once and for all. Someone has to.
