My favourite bit of pre season is about to start.

The bit where some of our fans throw a hissy fit because we don’t sign a player we were never linked with.

I like Anderson, I think many of our fans do. But he appears to be an out an out centre back and therefore I can't see him coming to be back up to Egan who I would expect to be first choice, more to the point I don't think United would want to sign a centre back that is only best at covering Egan, I think someone more mobile like Anel may be desired, not saying they're easy to come buy don't get me wrong!

Honestly I just don't get the 'he looks miles off the PL' statement that some are saying. How exactly? What are his obvious weak points? What could he do better ? His marking at set plays? His pace? If the latter, John Egan is hardly a sprinter and probably no quicker than Andersen ? so what is A's obvious deficiency that makes him short of PL quality in peoples opinion on here?

Not disputing peoples opinion of him as we all see different things, but genuinely what is it that people see (or don't see) that makes him look short of say our own John Egan, in potential? I just see Andersen as a leader and a solid centre half who is no slouch. Not saying he is what we need, just genuinely interested in hearing what others see (in his weaknesses) that are readily apparent to a mere mortal like me? Other than pace....(which Egan for example is hardly blessed with but makes up for it in know how).

Fair enough. I can't say that he is someone I have seen too much of tbh, but when I have seen him he has been impressive and I dont think he is any slower than some already on the United payroll.

I hope this one doesn't come back to bite us on the arse re solid centre half from a local rival for probably not too much money.

We'll see. I'm sure we have scouted him and dismissed him for whatever reasons. Luton and Rob Edwards (and their scouting team who haven't been bad recently) obviously like the look of him though.

To be fair, I've not seen many 'missed signing hissy fits' on here for sometime and definitely not this summer so far. Most comments are a long the lines of x has gone there.

If we aren't careful, the ones who come on here every window to tell everyone else to calm the fuck down will be having a hissy fit that no bugger else is having a hissy fit. Mind you there is usually the odd melt down, but we are hardly a demanding set of fans when it comes to incoming signings. We've made one permanent signing in 5 transfer windows. I think we are all hissy fitted out and exhausted.

But no I do think he would have been good cover and a very smart, opportune piece of Egan succession planning

"Club record fee" isn't saying much when their current record is £2m for Carlton Morris, coincidentally also from North Barnsley. Bit like us announcing the £4.5m Luke Freeman and £5.5m Callum Robinson signings as club records; we all know how that turned out.
