John Egan for me.

No coincidence that our two 3-0 shlackins came after he'd been sent off and then suspended.

The other players are replaceable but Egan makes us into a credible PL outfit. Without him we're in the same boat as Norwich and Villa...
Bit of a slur on the rest of the team that, we've got better player's than both of them👍

Sadly the evidence is there (small sample size, I grant you) but without Egan we were all over the fookin place defensively and took heavy casualties!

Maybe it's an over-exaggeration but alongside him Basham looks immense. When Egan isn't there he looks all over the place.

Bash for me. The dark days of League 1 seem ages ago but he has come through it all and just looks even better. He would be a worthy winner for me. Everyone else gets a great runners up spot! What a team.

Henderson has probably won us more points than any other individual player.

My criteria is who is the best in their position in the league. Who would you put in any PL team. For me that is Baldock.

Basham for me. He dropped a bollock against Leicester back at the start of the season and that's about all I can fault him for.

He's one of those players that's rarely the best player in the side but even when the team has an off-day he still plays well. Even in our recent bad results and performances, Basham was solid.
Tbf I agree he’s been the best player of our return overall but he’s made mistakes, he lost Martial for every goal of his hat trick

JOC player of the year. Suddenly he’s back and we look much more solid, not surprising

It’s difficult to out pick an individual when our system doesn’t rely on individuals.

The main consistently excellent performers this season have been the back 3.....that unit must be amongst the best defence in the whole division.
so either Egan, Basham or O’Connell is fine by me.

Jack O'Connell has been our best & most consistent performer. He gets my vote.

However;

Dean Henderson has probably been our most important player. With an average goalkeeper we'd probably be at least 6 points lighter this season. He's been a key difference to our fortunes.

Chris Basham & George Baldock have rarely let their standards slip & have comfortably made the step up. Proper Blades. Love their passion & workrate, but their ability is underrated.

John Fleck has made some outstanding contributions & at times has looked like a player that could slot into any team in the league.

McGoldrick. Without this guy we look half as good in possession. Whenever I see his name missing from the teamsheet I know the performance is going to suffer.

The rest have all had massive parts to play & have been excellent, but (in my opinion) have been slightly less consistent than those above.

John Egan for me.

No coincidence that our two 3-0 shlackins came after he'd been sent off and then suspended.

You could say the same about JOC who comes back and suddenly we keep a clean sheet. He’s played 135 mins and we haven’t conceded after shipping 8 in 4 games.

Christ, I'd give it to Bash THIS season, purely based on this moment from LAST season.

Tough shout....so many talented and deserving players to choose from. In Dean Henderson we have a goalie who has been exceptional. Occasionally he has a mistake in him, but he's a fast learner so the odds are he'll continue to get better and better. Sadly, he's here on loan but he's definitely worthy of consideration. Then there's our defence, which almost always picks itself. To a man they've probably been the reason why we've done so well. In John Fleck we have a tenacious midfielder who competes with the best.....but, and this has been an incredibly difficult decision to arrive at, I've decided that Chris Basham just about pokes his nose in front to become this season's Player Of The Year. Consistently consistent, ever since Wilder became our manager Basham has grown in stature, and for this player to show he a Prem player is a fantastic achievement. To anyone who questions their worth then take a look at Bash, he's become an essential component in this wonderful Blade's side, and given how tough and unsentimental Wilder is, that's some compliment!

i thinking this earlier as with everything. id forgotten as normally this is april time. as strange as it sounds for team that about make history. but its a shorter shortlist than last season as any one of 8 or 9 players couldve won & no one would've complained

this season this is easier but not much. i would say any of 1 of 5 of Henderson Basham Egan O'Connell Norwood would get my vote. but this is mad under wilder player of the year has become impossible. before wilder it was easy as their was 1 or 2 most years some times nobody deserved anything

I think I'd have an easier time picking my favourite video on Pornhub than I would picking player of the season as you could make an argument for so many of them, chicks with di.... I mean Bash, Egan and JOC are the ones that stand out the most with our Defence being so fucking awesome.

Egan for me.
I used to be worried about certain forwards he was facing, then the game would come, he’d deal with them and look like it’s easy.

The commander in chief in the back line, he’s the one organising and thus allowing Bash and JOC to get forward. Reads the game very well and the header to beat Wolves was enough proof of his commitment and bravery as he definitely copped one in the face as he connected with the ball!

Bash and JOC push him a very close second and Fleck not far behind either.

The club awards will be a great occasion again this year.

Isn't anybody else going to question McBurnie's 6 MOTM awards?
I know it's not impossible but he's never been in the shakedown for POTY, probably be behind Lundstram and Berge.

I think, with Egan on the pitch this season we have conceded 24 goals in 31 and a half games.

Although you could argue he was to blame for the 3 Newcastle scored due to the sending off.

But either way, that is quite simply a phenomenal record for any team in the premier league, let alone one that is newly promoted.

Basic Crooks and direct Danny Mills are contenders but Steve Lobotomy Nicol for his teamtalks that motivated the entire club has to be the one .

Remember when Ryan Giggs got POTY for the premier league when he was clearly past it? It was so obvious it was given to him that year as he had never won It before and was clearly more of a ‘lifetime achievement award’. But if a scandal that year but to be fair it was mad that he had never won it before.

For similar reasons, I think Bash should get it this year. It’s so hard to separate the players but he was here at the very beginning of this journey and is no doubt a club legend. I would love for him to be celebrated after the season the club has had as he is the embodiment of where this club has come from.

Begs the question , will there be a Player of the Season awards dinner at the Lane this year any time soon ?
