Wasn't Donachie pulling the strings when Spackers was in charge? I seem to remember us never playing the same after he left in early 2008, though there were other factors that potentially influenced it (selling our best players and Whitehouse previously being injured).
I really enjoyed that half a season under the team that Donachie and Green had put together. I remember us smashing teams and we had some great attacking quality. There was noone like K Mac pulling the strings in that team though. Our midfielders (Marker, Patterson, Whitehouse, Ward) were good, but in other ways. Any team with Deane and Fjortoft would be dangerous, but particularly one with the wing backs we had. It was a great few months, but the wheels started to fall off after Whitehouse got injured and then the vehicle fell apart after Donachie left and we sold Deane and Fjortoft.
