Looking at our run in and it isn't kind at all, especially the next month or so. Be interesting to see how we fare against the top teams in this division.

Threads like this show how "all or nothing" some Blades fans have become. Not too long ago, we'd got used to merrily bobbing along as a Division One midtable team but then we get all these crushing blows and "nearly" matches and Unitedites have turned to extremes... We're either shit or worldbeaters.
After the way this season looked like it was going, mid table is enough. We were rubbish and probably deserved to go down under Weir. Clough has taken us on an amazing run and probably deserves more, but averaged out... mid table is where we *should* be. It would be heartbreaking to think that Clough"s United could be kicked in the teeth by relegation.
This is the table if the season began on 15th October...

that's fascinating, really annoying in a sense as if we would not had Weir we could be right up there now, still there's time left.
I think on balance August, September and October were the killer months.January was the killer month. We dropped something like 9 points from winning positions.
Not really worth thinking about. Our current for is 2.5 points per game? Fair enough. But that would be 115 points over the entire 46 game season. If anybody thinks we're a good enough team to get 115 points they're mental. We aren't as good as Peterborough, just having a good run. May have got 15 points, but only scored 8 goals in those 6 games. No team can keep winning games like that. Once we get to relative safety, the mistakes at the back will creep back in and we won't have the firepower to turn the games around. The form will inevitably drop off, and i don't really care, just happy to be winning some games and moving away from the bottom.

Disagree.Play-offs are 100% categorically not happening and it isn't worth the time to even think about and discuss them. I know a lot of the play-off talk is slightly tongue in cheek, 'dare to dream' sort of stuff, but I still don't think many of our fans realise just how much we'd have to do in order to reach them. If we win every game between now and the end of the season we'll finish on 83 points; the total needed will probably be around the 76/77 mark. We are in the territory of having to win all but one or two matches and would need our best ever PPG average over the next 14 games in order to get enough points.
Not even a month ago this Sheffield United side lost 3-0 to a side in the bottom 4 in one of the most pathetic performances I have ever seen as a Blade. Obviously we're on a better run of form now but when you take into account who we still have to play, to suggest that there is even the remotest chance of us reaching the play-offs is just utterly laughable.
I'd be delighted with a top-half finish, anything higher is a bonus.

But if Peterborough win at Crawley, we will still be 14 points away from the play offs with no games in hand.
What about if Crawley win 1-0 and we go into the game against PBoro Tuesday with the opportunity to close the game to 8pts??
Then can I mention the play offs. Please? Pretty please with cheese on top?

Foxy, Linz....a polite request
Anyone who mentions us and getting into the play-offs must be banned with immediate effect. I know not many on here have got carried away but there are plenty who are.
Lets just look at the facts. To snatch the last play-off spot would require between 71 and 76 points judging by the last 6 seasons, (with the exception of 2009-2010 season when it was 80) therefore we would have to win at least 11 but probably 13 of our last 15 games to stand half a chance.
We have to play 9 of those 15 against teams currently above us including the entire current top 6.
but lets not be stupid!
