I'm not knocking anyone other trying to stir up arguments etc, but to those who think we'll do it in the play offs could I please ask why? What makes you believe this? What have you seen from us all season or recently that's lead you to this conclusion? I'm genuinely curious.

* please refrain from turning this into a "bedwetter/rose tinted" argument.

How about we are 20 points in front of the side in 6th and 10 in front of the one in 4th....or do facts not count?

I put a bet on around 6 weeks ago that we'd finish outside the top 2 and cov would win the play offs.
1 down. 1 to go.

If only the playoffs worked like that .. be great if we could get the playoffs monkey off our back but I'm not very optimistic .. on holiday with a Leeds fan life just likes to punch you in the face

Optimism and Sheffield United in the play offs isn't a thing for obvious reason. If it's a normal team many.

If only there was some sort of basic statistical measure of how good we are relative to the teams we will be playing?

You seem to enjoy it when we lose

It's not about whether you think we will or won't. The fact is that's the path in front of us now.

If you want to sit silent, watch from behind the sofa or get ready to leap out and be the first to say 'I told you so' (as seems to be the prerogative of some on here) then that's your choice.

I'd rather back the lads because that's sort of the point of being a fan.

We're miles ahead of the other teams behind us in terms of points. We've beaten each of them. They've all lost games today at the business end of the season. They're all reasons to believe we can do it.

I'm not very optimistic at all about it but all season we've been playing ideal play-off football of tight-margins and winning by 1 sitting back etc..... but that was before we started to leak goals like over the past couple of months.

Indeed, Bristol City and Coventry would have fancied wins today to seal their play off places against struggling teams. They both lost.

End of thread.

I think the main worry for me is these are historical points now that mean nothing in the lottery of the play offs. We’ve already beaten a lot of teams when in form, doesn’t mean we’ll beat them again.

The past four games have shown us that we can be inconsistent.

Sunderland have got less points from the last 4 than we have but let’s not let facts get in the way 😂
Over the last 6 they have, which is generally the view for recent form. We've lost to 2 of the bottom 6 in the last 4 games.

I’m more worried about a recent form and general lacklustre of performances this season, for the play-offs, than our record.

The lack of optimism and dread of an atmosphere from the fans at, what’s let’s face it, now feels like a bit of a failure from where we have been for the majority of the season, will rub off on the players.

Teams that win the play offs Usually go into them in good form.. over last 5 we are next to bottom in the form table.
