No direct trains from Sheffield to London that weekend… you can go via Donny but those trains will have come from The North East and will be rammed with Sunderland fans…
(Vast majority of )trains from Slumderland go via (Spewcastle) Darlo & York
Don’t ‘touch’ South Yorkshire
Coming back will be the bigger problem as ‘their’ trains (also) depart from Kings Cross
We have a sight advantage as will able to book (confidently) assuming we don’t lose (heavily) on Monday afore they even know if they’re going to the final 🤔

Lots of them will travel to Durham or Chester le street and get on the fast train down East Coat Mainline through Donny

Not much availability now

could be embarrasing if its sunderland same as pigs they will sell 45k if they can get them were likely to be lucky to sell 30k

Another more time consuming way by rail is Sheffield to Manchester then Manchester to London Euston.

The last train that goes to the North East leaves Kings Cross is at 8, so the train might not be an option if it’s a 5:30 kick off.

Spewcastle & Slumderland ?
How old are you ?

I don't think it's that embarrassing, Sunderland are a bigger club.
They'll get what they get, we'll get what we get.

If Sheffield was a one-club city, our support would piss all over Sunderland's and most other city's of a comparable size.

I like the final being at Wembley. It’s because of my age and what we grew up watching.

This rumoured ko time is horrendous for a lot of fans though. Really feel for fans who genuinely want to go, but the ko timing forces a hotel and puts it out of their price range.

Why do they need to get a hotel? They can still go by car or coach can’t they?

would 5.30pm be a good time to play because it could be 20-25c & playing at 1pm - 3pm would be very energy sapping. probably led to why Huddersfield in 2012 was 1 of the worst play off finals
That's about the only rational reason I've seen for playing it later - if we must have play offs that is

In a sensible world. Some bright spark will say.. Can’t we just play the fucking thing at Old Trafford? 32k tickets each. I know logistically it will never happen. Just hate that the FA haemorrhaged themselves with a fucking 6/10 stadium, that we are now bound to play their for all eternity. The mystique of walking down wembley way and the twin towers is no more.
Wembley is paid off now. if the new old Trafford happens I can see some games moving there.

i love wembley i love going because of the history of the place. but i would like to see more flexibility in fa cup semi finals & play off finals. how realistic it is i dont know.

but if you have 1 or both southern clubs. wembley makes sense. but as we've seen if its sheffield utd v man city. or sheff utd v Coventry or Sunderland. then old Trafford makes sense

I find it unbelievable that the ko time hasn't been announced yet, its 2 weeks today, supporter's travelling from outside of London need to make various arrangements to coordinate with the ko time, l will be flying over indeed have booked already, allowing myself some wriggle room for when the game will finish.
It smacks again of the authorities not giving a damn about the fan's.
What fans need to make plans? There will be 2 from 4 teams, and those 2 are yet to be decided.... or are we Wednesday in disguise?

There a 10pm train to Donny but not one to then Sheffield
This is my problem, The last train that allows me to go home from York is at 8pm.

There's so many ifs and buts - added time, extra time, queues for the underground - so who knows what time you'll get back to central London

Must have been packed in like cattle trucks to Auschwitz. I think the last chartered train I went on was the Hull game and they brought out a HST set which would hold nowhere near 1500 on seven coaches, about 1000 max if they made it a nine coach set. The Hudderfield charter would have been one of the later Meridian sets which cram in 250 on each coach. The only trouble with footy specials is you can't have a pint on them but they are cheaper than normal trains, on other times I have travelled via Donny a fast train only takes a hour and half to London still about as fast as the midland routes best with a couple of stops.

Everyone had an allocated seat, no one had to stand.

Yes it was alcohol free, none was sold, but you could bring your own.

I seem to remember there was a first class carriage for not much more money than the standard seats. Nice trip down, less so on the way back.

Donny is in South Yorkshire. Unfortunately.

Looked at Live football on TV and it still says to be confirmed. Whether this is reliable remains to be seen - of course

Mick - please stand for public office as Minister for Trains. You have my vote as this sounds ideal!
