Right... hello :)

I know originally we said we'd meet at the Lion for the Derby match as we did last time. However, the early kick off and the trudge through town means that the Lion's 10am opening time doesn't leave us much time to have a few.

I know the Banker's Draft seems to be a popular choice (9am opening time kids) but to deviate away from the crowd, might I suggest that instead of meeting at the Golden Lion, we head towards the Swim Inn at the top end of West Street? This is also a Wetherspoons with a 9am opening. There's a tram stop just outside and if the trams are full, plenty of buses. Plus hopefully it's out of the way enough to get served easily.

The Swim Inn, for those that went out last Christmas, is where we started drinking and Jonny was trying to steal other tables' chairs :D

Everyone is most welcome to join us and if not, we'll see you down there.

Ironic name really:D

And is anywhere showing the game around town..?
I know a lot of pubs won't open...but hoping that some might!

Might pop down for a few Linz.... depending on ticket situation.

You might be best heading towards a "Blades area" to catch a pub with it on. The Earl of Arundel & Surrey have got Sky afaik and a few of the pubs on Woodseats have.

Aye... might see you there then kidder.

Yeah can't see many in town having it on, cos of the trouble it might cause.

I have no idea where it is but i should be able to find out :)

Thanking you muchly will be asking my mate what his plans are and we should both get there if not there will be trouble

Old Crown on London Road will have it on - and it'll be full of blades

Just a reminder as well... some Wetherspoons have a policy about football colours being on show. Not sure if the Swim Inn does or not but it might be worth keeping your shirts tucked in.

Do they serve food at the Swim Inn? I might be peckish you see and I'll want to eat certain kinds of pork produce before we head off to where they came from.

Jonny want some sausage, Jonny wants some sausage, na na na na oooohhh

:D

Yes they do... as mentioned in the other thread, full breakfasts are served.

is it a day saver you can buy for busses and trams?

How do you know it's not bacon I wanted? Or even Black pudden? ;)

You might claim you want to sink your teeth into the crisp edges of the bacon rind.

Or feel your arteries throb upon the consumption of black pudding.

But you know it's the sausage you want. Glistening with lard.

Give into the sausage Jonny... just give in.

Will they defintely be serving beer from 9am? Just thinking if they may not be due to police advice?

will have to take a hip flask then to pour whiskey in the tea :D

There are no restrictions on the pubs in the City Centre as to whether they can show the game or not. The decision is purely down to the owner/manager/landlord of the establishment. However, there will be a big police presence in town and will be advising, etc. I know a few landlords of pubs in the City Centre who will not be opening up during the day, and depending on the situation into the evening aswell. Most large bars will be heavy with doorstaff so you will find they are open, just not sure if they will be showing the game or not.

By the way, who isn't going? And if you're not do you want to find somehwere to watch it? I know somewhere that should be showing it, I have to go speak to the owners tomorrow.

I'll be struggling wherever as Lucy will be with me, and she's only 14, so I reckon it will end up being a suburban pint afterwards.

I really hope that Robbie can get the blue and white balloon cocks going inside the ground, because I nearly pissed myself at the thought of hundreds of them floating about.

Innuendo away now, folks ........

You going to the game? The place i'm going is a nice quiet pub, even on match days. Going to see the owners tomorrow to ask if they're showing the game. If they are i'm going with a few mates, between us i'm actually outnumbered by the piggy fans
