For those of us not lucky enough to be able watch us in the flesh against that fucking shower of bastards; where d'yall reckon would be best to watch it ont telly in a pub in Sheffield?

After the best atmosphere really.

As close to Lane as possible. Everywhere in Town will probably be showing it and I imagine it will mostly be Blades watching it, the pigs that aren't at the deathtrap will surely be watching it round Hillsbrough or at home.

This is discussed on another thread about the game. I'm thinking London Rd or Nether Edge. The Crown is a good atmosphere, but as far as I know it's still closed. Clubhouse will be showing it, and the Golden Lion. Not sure if the Cricks or the Sheaf have Sky. Farm Social Club will be decent. Someone said it was being shown at the Lane somewhere.

Not sure if many pubs in town will have it on. Walkabout should, and the Surrey.

I was in the Crown last home game, open as usual I believe.

Fanny's is a good shout too, but it's going to be packed

Nowhere in town showed the Pigs v Forest on Saturday.

Common Room had Man Utd on and the bar tender said "you'll struggle to find a United or Wednesday game on in the town centre"

Why on earth not? That's fucking weird.
Surely it's not coppers getting involved?

The Crown just re-opened under new management but not been in yet so cannot say whether they have the footy on. Will check on my way by in a day or so though.;)

Ah, no need, Chuffer answered the question.:)

I would avoid town and eccy road....Sheffield 10k road race all morning and into early afternoon!

The Byron is a great pub, good beer, local people and loads of TVs. but it will probably be a mixed audience...

The Railway had Sky last season..

But if anyone is in Kent, come and join the Canterbury Blades Massice (me) in The Three Tuns. Guaranteed seat, service and I ain't ever seen a pig in Kent.

I think it is probably police getting involved. Didn't Walkabout have a lot of trouble years ago? Can't actually remember if that was a derby match though think it was but stand to be corrected . But yes it is weird in Sheff city centre that you'll struggle to find the derby match on. Can't imagine it's the same in other 2 team citys but maybe it is.

I'd say.....

The Byron (netheredge)
Clubhouse London road
Champs eccy road
The banner cross

Usually dead certs

I need a pub around Euston Station, London!!! Checked a couple and they only show Premier League fixtures. I think I'm going to struggle

I remember reading an article saying that Common Room have a policy where they deliberately won't show United or Wednesday matches.
Nothing to do with the police, they just don't want to risk trouble and hostilities amongst rival fans.

Remember.......
In Manchester and Liverpool they can watch their matches in pubs.
I've been to Liverpool a few times and on a Saturday night you'll see people wearing blue Everton shirts or red Liverpool shirts at 10 and 11pm in the city centre.

Don't think I've ever seen a football shirt worn in the Sheffield city centre pubs late in the evening.

It's kind of a shame about Common Room, as it's the best place to watch sport in the city, but I get entirely why they do it.

I'd argue that those two groups don't hate each other anywhere near as much as us and the pigs. Liverpool are Man U's main rivals and it's only since the money has poured into City over the past decade that their rivalry has intensified (it probably means far more to City than it does Man U). Liverpool and Everton have much more of that 'all scouse aren't we?' mentality and you frequently see the other side's fans visibly sitting in the home ends on telly. That simply wouldn't happen here.

I'd be interested to know if they show the Brum vs. Villa game on TV in Birmingham city centre. They're probably on par with Sheffield in the hatred stakes.

Also need to take the context of the fixture into account. We've not played each other in six years and, as I said, they've slashed our allocation meaning more people looking for a telly.

No problems where we'll be. And easy access to the bar....loveleh.

I think when a few of us went in the Rocket after the QPR cup game they had more than one channel on their screens so may still have two Sky boxes? Not a great pub but worth a look maybe?
