We are punching above our weight financially, however we are 3rd in the league on merit this season, the defensive and attacking stats back this up. You are where you are based on merit (i’d actually say that the last few games results have put you in a better position than you should be in based on performances across the season) but financially you are punching much below your weight and that is why it rankles so much with many of the little grunters.

As a result grown men are losing the plot and going on the radio and calling our manager childish names. I just hope you can stock up on cabbages as you might be needing them once Brucey has had his month off and bothered to turn up and manage you.

I never mentioned Wednesday's performances, or how they rank relative to investment. However, I've given my opinions on that matter many times on this forum. Nor did I say that United don't deserve to be where they are. I watch them. What I did mean is that Wilder is doing a great job with what he's had to work with, and deserves backing to give him more options. What that's got to do with Bruce and vegetables, I'm not too sure.

What you gave was a backhanded compliment, “United are punching above their weight and it will end soon” is paraphrasing your post. As you are a pig I am simply pointing out that statistically we are achieving in line with our performances, the pigs are over achieving based on theirs. This is converse to the budgets of the two clubs.

Steve Bruce and cabbages, you’ll hopefully find out soon enough.

They lost in a PO final when it was La Liga, spent millions on players and wages and are now shit in an apparently shit league but can’t see the irony in it all. They really are a special in-breed.

It's amazing how quickly the league has regressed in the past 2 seasons. It's a shame we never got to experience this league when it was in his pomp and Huddersfield got promoted with a minus goal difference.

Best thing about that was that play off final being the worst in living memory. Huddersfield v Reading, what a thriller.

I guess you could interpret it that way, but what I mean is this. Relative to the budget he's had, Wilder has worked a near miracle. He's managed to get 110% out of the players he has at his disposal. But doing that indefinitely isn't possible. Not just for United, but for any club. There's a window of opportunity, so to speak. And IMO that window is now. What I wrote wasn't a criticism of Wilder or his players. To be honest, they've played a blinder and I've not seen the like. I've poured my cash into the club for 28 years, so pig or no pig, that entitles me to some say don't you think?

We're you around then . Did you ever see it .
Yes I was. I'm 60. Just because people used this language through "ignorance" doesn't make it right. "Times were different" in 1930's Germany, but that doesn't excuse genocide. In my experience, in the "old days" people just used racist, sexist and any other "ist" language because it's what they did, not because they'd "never seen a black person". I spent my childhood in Coal Aston (not exactly a multicultural melting pot), but went to school with some black people, so I don't know where you were in the 60's and 70's, but it must have been bloody obscure!

I will forever remember a comment from a pig fan saying United have not played anyone above them yet ....................... at the time we were sat top of the league. You do have to be utterly stupid to come up with such pearls of wisdom.

Today I had a "we'll be above you soon, we'll be in the play offs as you slip out"

Me: how come?

"Because we'll get 20 pts from the next five games"

Kid behind him in accounts just shook his head.

They get bonus points for having bigger crowds. Must be true, they’re always fucking harping on about getting the biggest crowds anyway....

No. FOTH.

:p

You weren’t. You’d never seen anyone black you said. I went to junior school with black kids. The handful of kids who used the insulting names invariably ended up in a fight. We all knew it was wrong, even if people said such things.

Your view appears to be it was alright then because it was a different time. I take it then that if times hadn’t changed you’d be quite happy using the n or p word.

The reason things are taking so long to change is less to do with open racists and far more to do with the ignorant.

I went to arbourtorne school and we had zero ethnic pupils then 66 to 70 at Rowlinson boys school so had no ethnic or girls so they were a mystery too ,only having brothers. Just think to lot of people in the sixties and early seventies there wasn't the rich diversity we have now . In those days there was still more religious arguing than race . M
My first knowledge of other races was the last year at Rowlinson when we went mixed . When 3 carrabean girls were in the new 6th form . I still communicate with them now . Prior to that I only used the term black to describe them as it's what tv crime programmes said they were looking for a black man . At least the police are still doing the same .
