No, the EFL bent over and presented itself for Storchy.
I thought there was still something such as the amount they can spend on fee's or wage limits.
So a sale could help them increase that amount potentially.

EFL website has no clubs under embargo currently.

Rumour has it that Storch was the only viable take over option and he threatened to walk away unless it was all lifted. So they did.

They are limited to what they can spend versus their turnover but that is the same for all clubs but I believe now they’ve dropped a level their expected turnover allows them to spend a similar amount to what they would’ve been able to as a championship club with a wage restriction.

Yeah for sure I am aware of that and found it slightly ridiculous they caved in so easily. Would have still expected some kind of restriction.

I'm only basing it on seeing in passing some local journo's (For them) suggesting they had some level of restrictions... but perhaps they were just alluding to the 60% of turnover or the like. Which I suppose however many million they could get for Charles could up their budgets.

Yep, when Storchy was shafting Chancer, I also think I read that there was some sort of spending plan/wages limit, agreed by the EFL and Begging Bowl FC.

I will try and dig up the info, if I get the chance.

They aren't under any embargos but they do have to follow a business plan and submit all transfer activity to the EFL to make sure they're following the business plan as part of the owners and directors test. this is one of the reasons our takeover took so long as the EFL were asking questions about sources of funding for seasons 2 & 3.

That's a requirement for a pigs keeper.
There should be some proper comedy options available who are prepared to play at that level. Let’s watch this with interest. One rumour suggested Cameron Dawson was train in with them. Lovely 😉

A British 20 year old goalkeeper, already Championship quality, probably available for cheap? Anti Wednesday bias to one side, he'll have a lot of interest.
But it’ll not be from the “pick of the Premier League”..

All talk of Faxon playing for United is fanciful under the current management if we aren’t prepared to play him over Adam Davies that should tell you we aren’t prepared to play him at all because Davies is a truly appalling excuse for a goalkeeper.
What a total load of bollox. Did you even go to a game and actually watch Davies last season?

I have watched Davies play for United he improved last year he still wasn’t what I would call good but he wasn’t as bad as he had been in his previous showings but it was inconsistent and he did still have games where he turned back into a pumpkin.

Given his age I’d be inclined to view last years up tick in performance at the back end of the season to more likely be him having a period where he was playing well above his average standard rather than a period of development which we can reasonably expect him to maintain going forward. It’s much more likely Davies regresses back towards the baseline of performance he has shown for pretty much the entire rest of his career.

He has only moved for a fee once in his career when he joined us indicating there has never really been much competition for his services and hasn’t actually been a starting player at this level since the 17/18 season when he was playing at Barnsley and they were relegated. In reality he is a poor goal keeper at this level and in all likelihood not more than an average one at the level below.

At the time of that post he’d conceded 4 in two games and had a big hand in being at fault for two of those four.

In terms of the eye test he’s slow to get down at times especially if the ball is close enough to him that he can’t spring into a conventional dive but father enough away that he can’t use his feet. He isn’t what I’d call physical commanding and certainly lacks confidence and technique when having to patrol his area he’s hesitant deciding whether he should come out to close the space with an advancing forward and when he does commit he’s very clumsy creating mistakes.

He has patches of being a good shot stopper but also patches where he seems to lose that ability.

In short I’ve never thought he is a good goalkeeper he’s fine in a pinch to cover for a couple of games but I wouldn’t want to rely on him producing the same levels he did at the back end of last season for an extended run of games again.

If we have concerns Coopers recovery will take past the start of the season or if we think he’s likely to miss significant time again next season competition for Davies would be a sensible precaution. As much as I might be wrong and he could have figured something out and improved his game at 33 it is unlikely.

We could get the level of performance we got last year or we could get the level of performance we’ve seen from him at other times.

United have been bitten numerous times by expecting the best if less likely scenario for a player you’d hope we’d have learned by now and be planning to have contingencies in place.

So, not an ‘appalling excuse for a goalkeeper’ then?
He’s a back-up keeper- we’re not in a financial position to have a top quality keeper on the bench at this moment in time.

He has been in the past was at the time of that post and could be again. Since that post he did improve his performance levels but I’m not sold that it’s reasonable to expect him to maintain those levels moving forward.

I don’t think he’s a good enough keeper for United to look at that position in the squad and think yep that’s job done. We should in my opinion be looking to find an upgrade/replacement. I’m not advocating spending a lot or indeed any money on that beyond a wage but I don’t think United would be hurt by cycling through backup keepers every year or couple of years to see if we can’t find an improvement.

Fear of losing Adam Davies shouldn’t keep us from doing that.

If others disagree that’s fine opinions on players are subjective but at this point in time I think Adam Davies is a bad goalkeeper. If he plays a decent chunk this season and continues to look better I might change my mind but at present he hasn’t shown enough consistently enough for me to do that

you’re fully entitled to your opinion, just my opinion was that your original quote was a little vitriolic is all.
