According to the Daily Mail....

Manchester United defender Phil Bardsley is joining Sheffield United on a month's loan.
The 22-year-old full back has played only once this season, in the Carling Cup defeat to Coventry last month.
Bardsley was keen on a permanent move to a Premier League club in the summer after going on loan to Aston Villa last season but nobody made a bid.

BRYAN Robson has confirmed he expects to sign Phil Bardsley on loan later this week.

Barring a late change of heart, the Manchester United full-back will agree a one month deal at Bramall Lane before making his debut against Preston North End on Saturday.

As The Star revealed earlier this month Robson, who is also searching for reinforcements in midfield, planned to use his contacts at Old Trafford to strengthen a United squad which is struggling to adapt to life back in the Championship.

And it seems that Manchester United's early exit from the Carling Cup has provided him with the perfect opportunity to plunder the ranks of the Premiership champions.

"I expect to bring Phil in at some point this week," Robson said this morning.

"Manchester United went out earlier than they expected in the Carling Cup and there are some lads there they want to get some football.
"Phil is straining at the leash to play first-team games."

Bardsley's only appearance of the season so far came in the 2-0 defeat to Coventry City.

Signed!

Bardsley joins Blades

Sheffield United are poised to complete the loan signing of Manchester United defender Phil Bardsley on Monday.

Bardsley 22, who will arrive at Bramall Lane on a three-month deal, spent the second-half of last season on-loan at Aston Villa, where he played 13 games for Martin O'Neill's side.

Phil is renowned for his versatility across the backline, but he is expected to slot in at right-back at the Lane, after Derek Geary was ruled out for 4-6 weeks, following knee surgery.

nice signing hopefully make the defence better ... well it can't get much worse can it ?

Surely will be a waste when Del Boys fit again

Unless "versatility" is a way of sayin drop Morgan and stick him CB with Cahill ... That would be kushty

i no what your saying but geary could play left back with stretch at left mid and put carney on the right
