Will be announced at 3 pm.

Lets put our guesses is now - 5 points per correct player.

League 2 team is based on a 4-3-3 formation so lets go with that;

GK - Dean Henderson

RB - Max Aarons
LB - Jamal Lewis
CB - Reece James
CB - Liam Cooper

M - Jack Grealish
M - Oliver Norwood
M - Pablo Hernandez

S - Teemu Pukki
S - Che Adams
S - Tammy Abraham

Henderson, Stevens and Sharp should definitely be in the side, but won't be. I bet only Sharp manages to make it and that's probs at a push!

John Egan should also be in it, but probably won’t be.

Sharp will be in, so probably Norwood.

As it was voted for in March loads of Leeds and Norwich players will make up the bulk

The thing with this team of the year, is that its voted by the players - so the players that should be in it, will be in it. Be interesting to see who is in there.

I don't expect many of our players to be. We are a team in ever sense. Players like Hernandez, Grealish and maybe Dan James will get votes because they standout like a sore thumb in their teams and do things no other can.

We have the joint best defensive record in the league and the most clean sheets. This despite being pretty gung ho at times with our tactics. We at the very least should have 1 defender in there, Stevens, Egan.... but somehow I doubt they will.

I try to look at this way;

Who will Billy Sharp vote for?

Which defender do you reckon he hated playing against this season.

Sharp, probably the likes of Flint and Ayala.
Yeah exactly - so when you think about all the players that will be voting then there will likely be surprise names.

When some posters are saying 'x, y and z' should walk into a team then they need to realise the voting is very specific and reflective of a voting players role/type.

The players seem to rate us more than the managers based on the past two seasons, so it’ll be interesting to see if that plays out today. For the EFL awards, only Fleck and Sharp were in the L1 team (quite remarkable on reflection) vs the 5 in the PFA team. We had none in last season’s EFL Championship team, whereas the players picked Clarke.

Middlesbrough keeper will be number 1 for some daft reason, as Hendo has been far better in my book.

I personally don't care if no-one else rates our team, it means that no one offers the kind of money to tempt the owner's, or turn players heads, wether we go up or not!

I think Norwood and Sharp will both be in – in the Not the Top 20 podcast when they were at the EFL awards several players were interviewed on who would be in their 5 aside team and I think both Norwood and Sharp featured in the answers that weren’t just the player’s teammates. I reckon we might get one more in the PFA awards – possibly JOC.

JOC or Basham must be in with a sniff because of for the unique roles they play and what a nightmare they must be for opposition teams.

it's one of those things i just cant call, i just don't see the players from other sides regularly enough to be able to pick a side, but surely Stevens, Egan, Norwood, Sharp have to be in the running

Nice to see Jay O’Shea in the League 2 team.

I wonder if Jay O'Shea regrets not taking the contract that we offered him two seasons ago ? Genuine question. Although he potentially missed out on promotion to the PL and all that goes with it, I can't imagine that he would have got much game time with us and so would have spent plenty of time either not in the squad or on the bench (at best).
I personally have a lot of respect for the guy as I think he realised that he would struggle to get in our team so rather than siting on the bench and collecting his cheque, he opted to take a step down in order to play regular football. Got to respect that and I'm glad that it appears to have worked out for him.

Agreed, that seemed to be his motivations and fair play to him. I doubt he’d have featured much, and would have probably been in a Carruthers type situation. Had a significant role to play for us in going up, and its good to see him doing well.
