PL is a better league than it was
Team is nowhere near as settled and needs a lot more additions
We still attack in a very similar way a lot of the time. PL teams make it much harder to get WBs forward.
We are going to have to rely on loans to play and really give a shit
We haven't got Dean Henderson

The loans are here for a year and so are 90% of the squad.

We're relying on lots of players giving a shit that may well down tools if the chips are down come Spring.

Remember Lundstram?

I give us a very low chance of survival unless we're within touching distance come January and somebody ambitious takes over and throws money at it.

I feel that's deep as whale shit. Realism, as you well know, is a catch all expression for someone who sees things as neither a negative or positive but something that plays out as neither. To deny that is to deny thought patterns. Realism is not knowing, or predicting, that 9th place would have happened. The opposite of realism is Blades predicting that we would have won the Premier League or got relegated. I'm not sure where in the ground you geniuses or non-realists predicted that we'd finish that year, but it wasn't 9th.
All opinion is subjective.Even yours.

I think most of us, believe we are likely to go down. Just that it is neither nailed on and that we have a chance. Relegation is not the end of the world and we may still enjoy the season. And that's not just happy clapper mentality, it's just a logical conclusion, based on the evidence of the entire history of football ever.... What makes less sense is this absolute certainty some people have along the lines of ' we are going to do a Derby' 'if X is on the pitch in August' 'sorry not good enough '....

I don’t think we’re going to be comfortable by a long shot, but equally I don’t see is getting spanked every week.

Our back is settled at least if not of Prem quality.

I’d rather be going in with Anel, Egan, Baldock instead of Jags and Ampadu.

I think we have a good chance of staying up. Look at the other teams we're up against...

Luton
Burnley
Bournemouth (no o'neil)
Fulham (2nd season syndrome?)
Brighton (dismantled by players being sold)
West Ham (Europa league campaign)
Everton (still shite)
Palace (always up and down in prem)
Forest (lucky there was some awful shite last year that kept them up)

We've nothing to fear and we should be looking for wins against all of these at home, and try to pick up one or two away.

27pts if we can beat them all at home, which is possible.

Jags and Ampadu were part of a team that were 16 points behind 4th bottom.

I don't think we'll get annihilated. I do think goals scored will continue to be too big an obstacle to overcome

Brighton (dismantled by players being sold)

Brighton are the same price to be relegated as for us to finish higher than Newcastle, I don't think you need to be concerned about them troubling the Championship in 24/25

They might not be relegated, but they could easily be as low as 16th, and it is one game at home we should be targeting.

Forgot to add wolves in to the list too.

Our goals total included most defenders and midfield players contributing, some of them more than once.
We have no idea how McBurnie, Ndiaye, Jebbo and the new signing will do, so goal scored will certainly be an improvement on our second season under Wilder, (mostly). :)

I agree with your post except Brighton, who I'd say are more likely to be top 6 than relegated.

I've posted multiple times that the pessimism of some fans isn't necessary (yet, at least).

I think we will go down if we play Fleck, Norwood, Berge most weeks. But I'm absolutely certain that we won't do that - as we will sign 2, 3 maybe 4 midfielders before the window closes.

We're a good team, with a good ethos and spirit. There are at least 6 or 7 teams that could very very realistically get less points than us (even if we "struggle", which is perfectly realistic).

I'll be very surprised if they're anywhere near that low. The market doesn't have their projected points total as the eighth highest in the league for no reason.

Will it "certainly" be better? Ndiaye is obviously a huge upgrade but apart from that I don't see anything being different. We weren't prolific in the league below and we are going to play more defensively

The "market" also wouldn't have had us finishing 9th in the first season.

Hmm, as it stands United have either the worst or 2nd worst squad from that list.

Brighton? Give over. "Dismantled"? They are signing or already have replacements

Exactly. I don’t see is being that far behind at any point. We’ll struggle yes, but I trust us to be more solid / competitive at least.

I'm not saying we'll be hopeless. I've said all summer I'd give us about a 10% chance of staying up if Ndiaye stays, less than 1% if he leaves.

But I do think it's fair to say that stopping up is more of a nice to have for the board this season. The aim seems to be clearing as much of the debt as possible. To try and inflate the sale price or help the club long term with the view that it's virtually impossible to maintain a PL place with the lack of investment available from the owner? Doesn't really matter if it does both

I don't mind having an owner who isn't minted. Everyone outside the top 5 or 6 is interchangeable now anyway. My only real issue is I don't think enough, if anything has been done with an absolute laser focus on making the most of United's resources. UW is too far detached from the day to day and I think that shows

Can I just ask what you’re basing that on other than pure blind faith?

I’m not generally the type to admit defeat before a ball has been kicked in anger but fuck me we are making it difficult to think any other way.

who didnt say cant see anything but relegation in 2019
and this is a better squad ,
30000 turning up every game think we have a chance , why not Bournemouth did it
its not blind faith its called supporting , theres beatable teams in the prem

this same pile of crap your belittling beat Spurs at a canter
ot many teams will enjoy coming to the Lane

My son yesterday who is a Liverpool fan (so looking forward to that game) asked if Blades had done any signings. I said yes we have resigned players. 🤣

being optimistic if we win the PL my bet produces £5000 and if we stay up thats £250 for me too. 🤣
