Penalty appeal and VAR

Mason never gives the Blades anything.
In August 2005 he did give us a penalty for a handball that hardly anyone in the ground saw. We were drawing 1-1 at the time with Leicester outplaying us. When he awarded us a second penalty, most in the ground were asking each other "what was that for?". Steve Kabba converted the penalty and we went on to win 4-1. It was seeing the highlights in the evening at home when you could spot the handball in slow motion!

a) Removes the possibility of a team stopping when the flag goes up, which is what we did v Newcastle, even though that was our fault for not playing to the whistle
b) Allows the offside decision to be made correctly in due course, not in haste and incorrectly.
a) Players should always play to the whistle regardless. Maybe they are getting used to VAR nurse-maiding them and the ref?
b) VAR make correct decisions on offside calls do they?

OK

;)

Just our luck that premier league finally realise and relegate him to Championship matches next season !

Not 100% on this, but I think this might be his last season anyway, he’s close to 50. Not sure if that’s the same for Championship as well.

Anyway, who says we’re getting relegated?

I watched that with a couple of mates, one of whom supported Leicester. It’s been quite an eventful time for both of us since then.

The actual rule is ridiculous but if we play to the letter of this rule that was a penalty all day long. Mason is a fat c@:# end of!

The other rule that’s doing my nappa in is the not raising the offside flag until the move is completed. Can somebody please explain the perceived merit in this as I really don’t get it?

I'm guessing to avoid situations like Newcastles 2nd goal against us last season... Looked absolutely miles off watching it live but was actually clearly onside. The linesman stook his flag up ref waved play on and our defence stopped because lino had his flag up but the goal was given

was a penalty but it would have been a travesty we were truly awful playing turgid tactics outplayed outclassed whats happened to the real chris wilder

I totally agree... player a gets to the ball first. Player b cleans him out... safe!!! (Baseball style) was fucking blatant and it gets totally overlooked!

As it’s been said a million times. Nothing wrong with Var, it’s the dickheads in charge that are the problem. Lucky Bogle still has a knee cap left. We’re told Lunny got sent off at Brighton for the follow through. Where is the difference. Inconsistent, arse wipes.

Bogle gets to the fucking ball first. Bogles lucky neither of his feet are planted, that’s coutts all over. That type of shit is illegal in MMA.

VAR needs to go.

I can live with the on-field ref fucking things up but when VAR gets every other decision wrong, it's time to get rid.

That and the fact you can rarely celebrate a goal these days as they can draw a line as they choose to find an offside.

It will for us next season

I'm 50/50 on this being a pen. Bogle gets there first, Keeper clears with left and takes Bogle with right. Thing is, ball has gone and Bogle is going nowhere. Keepers get the benefit in these things but keeper has not stopped a goal-scoring opportunity. It would have been really harsh to give it. And let's be honest, does it matter We're down. It doesn't make up for our piss-poor performance.

Keeper not only tagged Bogle's knee with his boot he took out both legs then rolled holding his shins he knew what was at stake.
Pen and a red if that was Rambo pulling the same stunt at the other end.
The ref also missed a high boot to Fleck by a player already on a yellow.
ref just let it go as it would have could have caused a red.

Since when do you need to have stopped a goal scoring opportunity for it to be a penalty?

Wilder has said the players are teasing him on tonight's performance there laughing in his face. That pathetic challenge by Ampadu was just typical of the no show from a number of players . .Adkins got the sack on the back of this type of performance !
I got so angry and frustrated watching it
I saw it out as I dont leave matches early and beleave it or not we were denied a penalty for dangerous play by the keeper.

Oh give over! We didn’t deserve shit but that’s not 50/50 it’s the most blatant pen you will see this season. Irrelevant of how we played it’s a disgraceful decision and actually smacks of corruption it’s that bad.

If Ramsdale makes that challenge and Fulham get a penalty then there are 12 threads on here slagging off refs and VAR.

It's debatable. Either way, we deserved to lose.

Keepers can clear out players. That's just football.

act like a mardy child all you want. Corruption? You're an idiot.

I thought the non award of a penalty against Plymouth in the cup was mind boggling, but this is an even clearer penalty. Just takes him out. Even Lineker thought it was a penalty!

And I may have red, black and white tinted spectacles, but I did not think a draw would have been undeserved. Fulham had a lot of possession but to my mind did very little with it for most of the game and bar a couple of anxious moments (Baldock"s clearance being one) I really didn't feel that we looked under the cosh. And Fulham certainly had a couple of lucky moments of their own.

Christ, I made the mistake of venturing onto shoutbox and it really was like going into the Sheffield United Hating Society on there. I thought I had been absorbed into a Stephen King novel. It was like being in a parallel universe!

Have you watched it? It was a pen in real time and it was even more of a pen in a replay. So the red misses it was excuse do VAR have for thinking it wasn’t a penalty. What were the refs in that booth saying to each other to decide it wasn’t a penalty.
To say it was 50/50 is pathetic fella.

Ok, watch it again. The keeper saves the shot with his left foot, where else could his right go? I admit, it looked horrendous, but keepers regularly take out player in their own box to make saves. If it was a player, we'd have got the pen.
