The Southampton game was 2 February 1991, not 2 March. Burned in my brain. Gannon almost hit the clock at the Bramall Lane end.

The winner v Leeds is recorded as an own goal I think - Deano's shot flicked off someone on the way in.

To complete the four season spell, in 1993-4 we were awarded 3 pens. Dane Whitehouse scored them all - away at Wednesday (1-3), home to Oldham (2-1), and home to Norwich (1-2).
The Oldham one was NYD, after a Dec where we had failed to trouble the scorers at all.

The Norwich game saw Jeremy Goss score (what as at the time) his customary screamer. Seemed like he scored from 25 yards every week. One of the few goals at BL our fans have applauded scored by the opposition

Between the 3-3 draw with Southampton in October and the 2-3 defeat at Ipswich in February, we played 18 games and scored 7 times. There were the 3 pens by Whitehouse, a direct free kick by Ward v Oldham, an own goal in the 1-0 win v Chelsea, and goals by Hodges (1-1 v Wednesday) and Andy Scott (1-2 v Blackburn). We drew 0-0 7 times.

I had never seen a Blades team so inept at scoring (though I have since) but that's what you get for selling Deano.

Ward's goal wasn't a free kick. I was there and as I recall, it was a one two on the edge of the box which saw him one on one with the keeper.

I'm pretty sure it was. he bent it in. It was a long time ago having said that!

Unlike lots of clubs we don’t practice tripping over our own back foot or going down easy, our players stay on their feet and try to score

Just found the 93-4 season review on YouTube. It was actually the 2nd goal, but it was as I thought :')
Don't know where I got that from.

the main things I remember are Dane's penalty and Flo heading off our goal line in the last couple of minutes to preserve the points.

That was one of only two games I went to that season as I'd made the strange life decision to both have a child and give up work for a year to study. Hence no money. Consequently I remember it quite well (though still managed to get the goals in the wrong order!).
