Doing what any sane bloke would do and getting out of our pathetic joke of a club.

Good luck Pembo if you get it.

Youth team coach in fancying a crack at being a manager shocker. This sort of madness can never have happened before?

But what it says is that our academy is going to be much worse off if he goes.
If our academy is worse off it then follows that the whole club will be worse off.

From what I can witness it appears that Pembo has run the juniors in a much more proficient and efficient manner than is the case for many other aspects of the club. He also appears to be an inspriation to the youth and brings them on with the right philosophy.

The loss of that type of leadership would be a big blow to the rebuilding and the future of this club.
For one thing - who is going to generate the assets for us to sell at the whaft of a wad of soiled notes?

Damn. We need him next season for the play off penalties!

Why would anyone want to go to Crawley ???
Must be job satisfaction it can't be for the money, I could see where it is disheartening to produce good young footballers only to see them sold off rather than benefiting the club you work for.

Not a suprise really. Im sure he would want a crack at management himself.
The important thing to us, is who will his replacement be?

Well, there's a decent chance they are going to finish above us this season, for starters...

He has supposedly said, 'No!'

Heard the same from a decent source and the local media appear to have heard as well.

Things change very quickly in football though, so wouldn't hang my hat on it till we hear from the man himself :)

Hope He stays, Great Coach. End of the Day, He is needed.

Some nice comments on the SSN website:

"I have a great relationship with Sheffield United and I am enjoying the work I am doing here," said the former Blades player.
"I felt at this moment it was important to show loyalty because we are trying to build something in difficult times."
Pemberton added: "I'm very flattered but I didn't feel that this was the right time to leave the club."

Right decision to give him the opportunity to talk (he might at any rate have signed his Academy contract on the basis that the club would allow him to do this). Really nice to see that in spite of the opportunity to manage a team himself, and link up again with Steve Coppell, that he's chosen to stay.

Nice to see in this day and age that building something is a worthwhile activity.
Good on yer Pembo.
You can't expect the youth to respect loyalty and stick with the club that has nurtured them if you pop off at the first opportunity. A wise man in a sea of idiots

Do you know what you and Crawley have in common?

............. you're both just a little bit ........ ...................creepy.

Micalijo - maybe your post was hastily written because you were conerned at losing somebody as valuable as Pembo, which is fair enough. That said, perhaps you could show enough class to admit that Pembo's response to Crawley shows exactly what is required from us all - i.e. to get behind the club in difficult times. How about admitting that things are maybe better than you thought if he's prepared to commit himself to the cause and work with the current hierarchy towards improving things in future. There's a new age dawning for lower division clubs - cuts are being forced and belts are being tightened. I believe that our management still try to make decisions in the best interests of the club as far as is possible given our current financial circumstances and the new rules - and given the contracts that we have to honour. Big Kev re-signing is a massive boost to us - as is Pembo staying. DW is a manager that delivers attractive football and is calm and professional. Let's trust them to get it right this season - and get behind the cub. UTB.

Well said Jamie

I'm really glad he's decided to stay. Always thought he was a decent guy, even when he was a player with us. Great memories of him blasting one of those penalties in to get to Wembley.

He is doing a great job with the Academy and lets hope the club reward his loyalty and the stability of him staying means he helps us progress. He seems to be really well respected, in particular by the younger players.

With Danny, Pembo, Frank Barlow and Morgs I think we have a strong management team.
