Starts on the 4th May.

Former Blade John Pemberton will be the Blades' new Academy Manager when he takes up the post on 4th May.

The Club received numerous strong applications and after a rigorous recruitment process it was felt that he was the best man to take the Academy forward.

Pemberton, 45, played for United in the top flight under Dave Bassett between 1990-93 and has a strong attachment to the Club.

He has achieved notable success in youth development at Nottingham Forest, and more recently has been working with England U19's. Currently, he is assisting Paul Hart at Crystal Palace until the end of the season.

Sheffield United is very proud of what the Academy has already achieved. As our future depends on successful youth development we believe that John's enthusiasm, ambition and new ideas will help drive it to new heights.

Hopefully he do the business, still lives in Sheff and his lads are Blades.

I look forward to the day when our next generation have all perfected the Pembo throw in.

Does this mean we might concentrate more on full backs now?
:D Did Pembo ever perfect the Pembo throw? It never seemed to have much impact on the distance!

Hell, at least all the kids will be able to take a mean penalty.

Need Duffers back for pens. Mark Todd is already there.

Did he look after the Forest academy that brought the likes of Dawson and Reid through?

Really liked him as a player, so pleased to see him back. Though he was just appointed as a coach at Palace, so a tad surprising that he's taken this so soon into Hart's reign...

From the O/S:
"Kevin Blackwell has tasked new Academy manager John Pemberton with ensuring that the Blades take on the best young talent available."

Genius! Why didn't we think of that before?
